This person's reviews of all three books is spot on with what I would have said. http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/347430024
I found this much easier once I learnt to skip the sex scenes and just get to the next plot point but then I found the plot lines such as they are so dreadful I just skipped through to the end. That said I do like the way EL James writes about the emotional connection forged between her two protagonists.
This one was a bit more interesting. But still not up to the hype.
Ok, done with the series. That was a fun amount of gratuitous sex! Back to reality.
Can I scream cliches any louder? You know nothing bad is going to happen to anyone. You just know it. Its not even a OMG SOMETHING TOTALLY BAD MIGHT HAPPEN. Yea... its not. And there's no thinking there is. Like HA she's gonna leave him hahahahahaha yea right.
- I thought the ending was a bit cheesy. It was a little too "and-they-skipped-away-towards-the-sunset" sort of cheesy.
- The meeting with Leila was kind of pointless, it just kind of made Ana jealous.
- I'm not sure I like the change in dynamic so early in their relationship, so I'm kind of glad Ana only got pregnant towards the ending.
Overall it was a good series that got me hooked for a while. And if I might just add, I really enjoyed Ana's fights with Christian, because it's just plain fun reading about her stubbornness to somebody who isn't exactly used to someone defying them. I'm glad we got some closure about Mrs. Robinson and Christian finally spilled his guts about how he met her, though I wish it could've happened earlier- could've saved Ana all the pain. This wasn't the best piece of fiction, sure, but it was a pretty fun ride getting to know these characters. :D
