I thoroughly enjoyed this series. While I acknowledge that my enjoyment may be somewhat influenced by nostalgia from growing up in the area depicted in the book, I appreciate it as a YA novel. The storyline is engaging, the characters are enjoyable, and the magical elements are captivating. Although it may not be the pinnacle of literature for me, I found everything to be executed nicely, making it a lovely read.
