There is so much happening, and some of it a bit sudden and rash
But Blue and the boys still get their growth and development I am used from this series.
And can we just acknowledge the most romantic/dramatic non-kiss in fiction ever?

BLUE LILY, LILY BLUE is a really impressive installment, and that is saying something considering how much we love the series on Readers in Wonderland.

This just might be the most unpredictable series I’ve ever read. When you think you’ve got it all figured out, you realize you couldn’t be more wrong. However, this brings up the issues I had with this book: I’m still not entirely sure I understand everything. While this is part of the magic of the book itself, I do personally prefer a book that is a little more straightforward. Although I must say, this issue does not detract from the story, it works well with the overall theme of the series. I am really excited to see how it all ties together, because I have a feeling it will be what we all least expect.

You will most likely need tissues, because some of these plot points, whew.

One of my all time favorite elements of any Maggie Stiefvater book are the characters she creates. They are so well developed and fleshed out, each with a completely unique brand and personality. If this book never told you who was doing what, you would still be able to discern which character it was, simply because they all have different voices and view things differently.

You may think you know your favorite characters but BLUE LILY, LILY BLUE just rips that away and stomps on it. They will all find new ways to surprise you, and we learn so much more about each and every one of them, seeing sides we haven’t seen before. While the second book somewhat focused on Ronan, this one takes a much closer look at Adam. I’m really liking how he is evolving as a character, he is given a lot more depth in this book. Character development for everyone!

Icing on the cake, there were almost no pacing issues in this book. It starts off on a strong note, and carries that throughout the rest of the book. It definitely hooks you in, and there is an almost constant air of mystery and suspense. Things pick up even more towards the end, and the last fifty pages or so are impossible to put down, which leads me to my next point…

If you thought the cliffhangers from THE RAVEN BOYS or THE DREAM THIEVES were bad, you haven’t seen anything yet. Darn you, cliffhangers! *shakes fist*

But really, we should know to expect this by now. With everything that went down in this book, I’m both terrified and excited to see what the fourth has in store-it’s going to be epic. I’ll be anxiously awaiting its release!
