This book tells a beautiful story of eternal love and reincarnation. Jesse and Kylie's journey, marked by their struggles and intertwined fates across lifetimes, deeply resonated with me. The historical elements woven into the story added a rich layer, making their journey even more compelling. The ethical dilemmas surrounding Dr. Stoddard's methods and her involvement added a gripping twist. This unique love story goes beyond the ordinary, leaving me reflective and eagerly anticipating the sequel. It's a testament to the enduring power of love, making me contemplate the depths of connections that transcend time and space. This is truly a remarkable read that lingers in the heart and mind.

I’m usually not a fan of books told in third person POV, but with this book written the way it was, actually held my attention and had me needing more!
Let me start off with saying this is the first time I’ve read anything by Julie A. Richman, and it won’t be the last. This was a read that intrigued me, made me happy/proud of both Jesse and Kylie for their accomplishments, made me upset for everything they’ve been through (throughout their thousands of years just trying to love each other and be happy!!!) and also got my mind racing about “what ifs” in reality.
Watching/reading two lost souls find each other over and over again, while simultaneously just trying to figure out their individual lives, was definitely a rollercoaster ride. It’s been a few hours since I finished the book, and I still can’t stop thinking about these two. My mind is still processing my thoughts and feelings, but I know one thing is certain….I NEED MORE!
I’m not a French speaker, so a lot of the French words that were written in here, I did have to (embarrassingly..because I wasn’t quitting to look up proper pronunciation and definition) skim and/or butcher the pronunciation and kind of guess at what it meant when there wasn’t an immediate translation for it. And I did want to throw my phone and yell “WHY CAN’T YOU LET THEM BE HAPPY FOR ONCE?!?” at the end. The little snippets of what is to come, has me calmed down and ready for more though. I was provided an advanced readers copy via Wordsmith Publicity. These thoughts and opinions are my own.

I have been a fan of Julie A. Richman's since I first read her Needing Moore series. I knew I wanted to read this book after reading the blurb, and I can honestly say that I haven't read a story quite like this one before. While it reminds me a bit of the Blue Bloods series by Melissa De La Cruz, this one had several differences as well. I am a bit torn on this story though, and while it kept me on the edge of my seat, I also was left feeling as though this wasn't everything I had been hoping for so it was a bit bittersweet once I had finished.
Jesse Winslow is a bad boy rocker and Kylie Martin is a former pageant queen. Both have demons that they continue to struggle with that keep messing up their lives. When the two of them meet though, their connection is one they can't explain or fight. But the one person that might be able to help both of them also has a secret, and that is that she knows the entire truth. Dr. Claire Stoddard knows everything that could help Jesse and Kylie, but she also has done the forbidden and fallen in love with her patient Jesse. Though Kylie and Jesse search and find each other in lifetime after lifetime, Claire isn't about to let Kylie take Jesse from her yet again.
I really loved getting to see these characters and their history through the regressions. I was captivated by Kylie and Jesse and their pasts as well as the present. Their connection was undeniable and was one that nothing could stand in the way of. I loved seeing the growth and progress that each of them made here. This story was full of love and heartbreak, jealousy and history. There is so much more to this story than meets the eye, and is truly worth the read.
But if I am honest, this story was a bit hard to get into and the ending was what changed it all for me. Luckily while this one started a bit slow, it picked up and at that point I couldn't put it down. It was beautifully written and I was emotionally invested in what would happen for these characters. It wasn't at all what I thought it was going to be, with plenty of twists and turns. But what really left me wanting was the ending. I wasn't fully satisfied, and I felt like it didn't really do the story justice. I wanted closure and it didn't feel like we really got it. While I am sure that there are a lot of readers that will love this story and feel like it was exactly as it should have been, I just felt like for me it was a bit bittersweet.

Love on the Edge of Time by Julie A. Richman
Standalone. Love story, but not a Traditional Romance.
4.5 stars
Meet Julie at Wicked Book Weekend 2018
Wow. Julie Richman blew me away with this completely unique story that’s like nothing you have ever read before. I was looking for something totally different, and Love On The Edge Of Time totally delivered. It features a rock star and a plus sized heroine, but it’s so much more!
The couple meets because they go to the same therapist. The Doctor performs regression therapy, and they each travel to past lives at different points in history. These are small historical stories within the main story that takes place in present day.
“You’re a gift, Kylie. Like an angel who came into my life. I’d be a fool not to see that. And I’m not sure I deserve you, but I’ll be damned if I let go.”
Going through this type of regression is hard on a person. They feel everything the person felt in a past life, love, hate, fear…then wake up. The rock star/addict, and the ex-pageant queen who ate her way off the circuit gravitated towards one another because they both understood what the other was going through in that regard.
Taking away the entire regression part for now, I loved the couple. At first Kylie rubbed me the wrong way a little because she hated her therapist but kept going back, but she won me over, and there was an amazing message about self image in this story.
“I know that’s odd, considering I spent years on a stage or a runway, but people treat you different when you’re heavier. You kinda become invisible. They’re like ‘pretty face,’ but they’re not all over you. Fewer people want something from you. And there’s a part of me that kinda likes being invisible.”
Becoming fit but still plus sized, enjoying life and having a rock star boyfriend, Kylie was a great role model.
"Maybe out there, some young girl ready to stick her finger down her throat or binge and take laxatives would not destroy their body and their self-esteem, because she, at size fourteen, was truly happy, and deeply loved by a man who was on a poster on their bedroom wall."
And Jesse….sigh, I loved Jesse. He was a perfect book boyfriend. <3
Now, adding the regressions in, you realize that it’s a much bigger story. Of course you have to suspend reality a bit and just go with it. And Julie made it easy to go with it by keeping it all realistic rather than fairy-tale like. If anything, it was kind of tragic. Still, I loved the individual stories. I cried a few times, especially at the end—Julie completely captured my heart and had me totally invested in this couple.

If you are sensitive to any slight thing being a spoiler, you may not want to read on, because what I am about to say will change the way you read the book from the start, but help you appreciate it more in the end I think.
Slight Spoiler Alert:
Spoiler
I was warned in advance that this is a different type of book. It’s absolutely a love story. It’s about eternal love, in fact. But it may not have the traditional HEA you are looking for that wraps up in a perfect little bow. But it totally worked for the story. You just have to look at the big picture. Knowing ahead of time changed the read for me a bit, but I think I was able to appreciate the story and ending more knowing this from the start, rather than being disappointed in having a bit of a twist in the end.
Likes:
- •I loved the message about self esteem and loving yourself the way you are.
- •I love that she was plus sized.
- •A few cameos from Julie’s other books.
- •Completely unique.
- •The historical stories within the story.
- •I love that they sent each other a photo every day.
- •Some super-hot scenes!
- •Some excitement and suspense.
Dislikes:
- •A bit of a slow start.
- •While I understand why it ended the way it did, it still was not the way I wanted it to end. I almost wish she’d write a novella with an alternate or future ending.
- •The nickname ’Toots’ kind of got on my nerves.
The Down & Dirty:
If you are willing to let any expectations go and leave your comfort zone a bit. Julie A. Richman has written an epic novel about eternal love that spans the ages. This is not a traditional romance, but it’s a completely unique story with a current plus sized heroine and a rock star, numerous historical times, some action and suspense, and a ridiculous amount of emotion.

This might be the hardest review I've ever written. Love on the Edge of Time by the fabulous Julie A. Richman is in a class all by itself. We all know Julie is an amazing writer. A spinner of tales of love, loss, deceit, pain, healing and lust. But none of those descriptions seem fitting for this book. Love on the Edge of Time is more than a love story. It's a circular, intersecting infinity timeline that surrounds Jesse and Kylie. Before. After. Always. It's nothing you've ever read before and something that will stick with you forever. As a believer in life after death, this story was impossible for me to put down. I wanted to live in its pages. Taste the éclair. Smell the sea air. Walk in their shoes. I've never been so immersed in a story before where when I was done reading, I was trying to decipher my reality from theirs. Jesse and Kylie are an unlikely pair. A rock star who hit rock bottom and is working his way back and an ex-Beauty Queen who would rather eat than keep her title. An accidental meeting that wasn't an accident sent these two down the same path. Both trying to be better. To find themselves again only to find each other. Promises are made this time around with the hope of changing their destiny. I personally related to Kylie with her Jersey attitude and weight issues. I was cheering for her and loving the new Kylie. Healthy, happy. Jesse is impossible not to love. He's a sexy rock star, but he's so much more. He's a writer, a feeler, a lover. He's overcome so much in his life only to find his way to the other side. Healthy, happy and in love. Jesse and Kylie are bound to be together even if they are fighting against the same enemy time and time again. Is it the biggest leap of faith to follow your heart knowing what could possibly happen? What would you be missing if you didn't? I loved this story. Every word. Every minute. Every character. I laughed, swooned, cried, got really angry, wished, hoped, laughed more and finally was actually content at the end. I know love is a circular beast and you just have to go around again. Have you ever met someone and it just felt like you've known them forever? Maybe you have…
"Yeah, well, Kylie is both my life vest and my anchor. She's my True North. So, I'm not worried about drowning. I've crawled out from the shadows and this is finally my time in the sun."
"I don’t know what is sexier. Watching you get dressed or watching you get undressed."
"Always, and without hesitation."

This is one of the most unique love stories that I have ever read. Nothing could have prepared me for Love on the Edge of Time and I'm not quite sure that I will find anything like it again.
Good story, predictable
It was a good story despite being predictable. I preferred reading about the previous lives over the current day characters...the writing seemed more detailed and descriptive
