Wow! The reviews on this one are absolutely insane!! Anywho, this was a 5 star for me! Yes it was triggering, dirty, spicy, and DARK, but it also had light and comedic moments as well! I loved the murder solving, connections between generations, the ghosts!! And the ending!? Oh what a cliff hanger! Overall it was a great read and not for the faint of heart!

Amazing dark romance. Just enough romance to be enjoyable without being overly sappy and all consuming. The book has things going on outside the romance factor that really add to the plot and draw you in. Great read. It is dark and I would take the warning seriously!

“All I want to do is break her. Shatter her into pieces.
And then arrange those pieces to fit against my own.
I don’t care if they don’t fit - I’ll fucking make them.”

I don’t know what words to use to explain how this book made me feel. There were several times that I put the book down because I was in shock, times where I was grossed out, and times where I was just so sad. I don’t anyone read’s my reviews, this is mainly for me, so if you’re here to see reactions on spice, move along because I’m ace and I read these books for the entertainment and because I’m to curious for my own good lol.

“All I want to do is break her. Shatter her into pieces. And then arrange those pieces to fit against my own. I don’t care if they don’t fit—I’ll fucking make them.”

At this point, I wasn’t so sure how I felt about Zade to be completely honest lol. There were times where I was really feeling him, and then he came out with some shit like this. Like, sometimes it’s kind of hot and cool of him, but then there are other times where he was the biggest red flag to exist. Throughout the book, my love for him definitely grew for sure, but it took a bit for me to really be into him.

“UNKNOWN: Sneaking off with random men, little mouse? If I catch his hands anywhere near you, they’ll end up in your mailbox by morning.”

“What was going to be a fairly slow death is now going to be the slowest death to ever happen since the dawn of humanity. It was bad enough that he spoke of my girl in such a disgusting manner, but then he went and topped it off by implying Addie isn’t anything special. She’s the first of her kind to exist, and there will never be another like her.”

This was when my love for this man started to grow. The possessiveness and protectiveness that he was showing towards Adeline was strangely romantic in a way? Like, I liked that he was able to follow up on his statements and threats. Regardless on how creepy it was at first, he started to grow on me. I felt like one of the TikTok girlies lmao.

The only thing I couldn’t wrap my mind around, and I’m aware that it’s totally a me thing, was the instant attraction/obsession that he had with her. Of course, that’s just a me thing again, but reading it from his point of view was really really interesting for me! It wasn’t like, a slow build, which is what I expected to happen. It was an immediate thing and then he slowly and slowly started to obsess even more and I wasn’t even aware that this was possible.

“I’m beginning to think you like to be punished, which means I’m just going to have to do better.” Before I can react, he’s lifting me up and tossing me over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes. “Fucker!” I snap, banging my fists against his back. I am not a potato.”

UNKNOWN: I’ll be seeing you tonight, little mouse. I snarl. ME: From outside my house, and preferably in a cop’s handcuffs. UNKNOWN: You don’t need a cop to get me in handcuffs, baby. I’ll let you do anything you want to me.

The relationship that these two had was fuckin adorable lmao. The way that they talk to each other and the way the interact with each other - I loved every bit of it! Zade alone was just an interesting character. He was funny in his own way and I wanted to be his friend. I loved whenever he was focused on Adeline because he sort of changed into a different personality. Adeline was funny, my only issue was how she would fold for him after talking mad shit lmao, but I understand that it’s a thing when it comes to attraction and everything so I won’t say too much shit about it, and in her defense, he’s so cool.

“So, she's mentally ill. Got it.”

Sybil! I cried when she got her little moment here, I didn’t realize that it was Zade in her book. Reading it from his point of view, and while I knew she wasn’t going to be a big part of the story in this book, and I was excited that there was this small moment now. I hope she’s in the second part of the book.

“Remember this moment,” he growls deeply, withdrawing to the tip before pushing deeper inside of me. “Because the next time I fuck you, you will be deeply in love with me, Adeline. I’m your stalker and a murderer, and you will love me anyways.”

“Let me feel you fall in love,” he whispers.

“I will always possess you, little mouse. So, know that you have all of my devotion to keeping you.” “Why does it always sound like a threat?” she wonders aloud, though a small smile tips the corner of her lips. I grin. “Because it is.”

I love Zade. I know up above I wasn’t singing his praises, but he grew on me so hard, and he will always have a special place in my heart. The way he spoke to her and the way he showed he cared is wild but I fuckin love it. Aside from all of the sexual things going on - which were fucking CRAZY - he’s an amazing man and he’s so fuckin cool. A vigilante? That’s so cool. The way that he interacted with her was feeding me such intense joy. I know that he’s technically the biggest red flag to walk, honestly psychotic in a way, but he was just cool. I know my reviews are ass by the way, I’m not good with words lmao.

I’m scared for the second book to be completely honest. The cliffhanger at the end was scary and I’m so scared to read it. Wish me luck.
