I have an ache in my heart. However, I am quite satisfied with this ending even though I think the Darklings death was kind of a letdown, but I think that ending turned it around for me. There’s something about bitter sweetness... about that ache in your heart that comes with loss and the need to survive/move on. The “you will always be one of us” got me. I really can’t wait to watch the show and rereread the six of crows duology and for the first time read the kos duology. I think Leigh Bardugo is ending my years long reading slump, and giving me yet another reason to look forward to another day of another story to consume. Thank you.

I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this final book compared to the first 2. While I probably would have preferred for a darkling romance, I can appreciate what Alina and Mal have, and am satisfied with the complexities/redeeming qualities of the villain. A few tears were even shed in the process.

This is the best one in the series yet! I felt that there was more to Mal and suspected he was Grisha but the ending was great! While the last book was a lot of sitting around(duh siege) this was all action! The origin story of the darkling was very haunting and nice to read. I love this series!
