often boring and tantalizing with a twist on the horizon, but that revelation doesn’t come until the very end. quite tense and definitely not my favourite of rice’s work, but i enjoyed the third act a lot.

I don't even know what I just read

I did not like this one... too much religion

Will I ever be the same after this?
This has changed me in my core

What a fucking exit from the narative! It was the only way Lestat would leave, but still. I wont recover

This book was incredible, it combined Anne's amazing story telling ability, her own gothic world that we are all so familiar with and the ever raging debate on religion and the battle between good and evil. This book takes you through everything, Heaven, Hell, world history and shows it all through the all seeing eyes of an immortal who has seen plenty already. The writing is intellectual and well researched and the characters although apparently well known are developed as never before including Christ allowing Lestat to feed from him while on the cross in the hope of converting him to the 'good' side (as much as possible he is a vampire after all). This is an incredible and amazing book and I'm very very tempted to say my favourite of the Vampire Chronicles to date

good god anne. I mean. really this is a tough fucking read. it is fucking dry. like of course she became catholic after this. the first 100 pages are dry but feel like they're leading somwhere. and the last 60 are the best and most interesting writing of the book. but that middle 300? tumbleweeds. like 3 stars is VERY generous but it truly is bc I really like the description of hell.
you know those like 40 pages in the vampire lestat where marius says the most boring shit you've ever heard in your life? it's that but 300 pages and about region. memnoch and Jesus Christ have an 8 page conversation about dying on the cross as god incarnate vs as a human. I hate it here.
