4⭐️ Audible listen…I think. This was a lot to take in. I don’t do much degradation and submission so this was something else. I feel like it straddled the line between con/non-con…which is fine but it was so humiliating at times for Aria.

Carter is not likable at all and yet here I am wanting to see what he’ll do next. He is clearly obsessed with Aria and desperately trying to maintain control.

I don’t feel like it’s fully Stockholm with Aria but it’s certainly misguided. Her will to live is strong so I suppose she’s just trying to get by. However, the attraction to Carter is palpable and something that prevents her from actively trying to live (or die for that matter.)

For some reason, I want to keep reading this series, even though I don't like it all that much. The writing doesn't flow for me and the characters are slow to develop.

This book was definitely interesting. The first few chapters are poorly written BUT it does get better. The ending has you on the edge of your seat

I liked this book, and the characters are good. I struggled with the pace.. beginning and end were exciting, but in between was very slow paced and I found myself hoping the book would just get there already.

I have to admit that I'm having some trouble deciding how to rate this book. I did, however, find it very interesting. It featured excellent writing, and it progressed at an appropriate pace. I couldn't stop flipping the pages because of how captivating the plot was. However, as a couple, Carter and Aria just failed to click with me. In Merciless, we meet the hardened Mafia boss Carter and experience firsthand the brutality of his personality. This isn't a cute and cuddly love story. Both the blurb and the title are accurate. Carter is merciless. Nothing prevents him from achieving his goals. And he has his sights set on Aria. To be honest, I still don't know how I feel about Carter because he wasn't particularly likeable. Yes, he was charming and sexy. However, I also thought he lacked any redeeming characteristics. I had thought the author would dig more into Carter's past with Aria, but all we ever saw of him was his determination to break Aria, never really revealing who he was on the inside. This book left me wondering what the exact outcome would be. Can love really triumph over all? I'm excited to see where this series goes from here.

“When you’ve done everything you can, and you’re left with nothing but fear of both the unknown and the known, there’s only one way to describe it. That feeling is true terror.”

Girl, are you okay???????
Da war sexuelle Anziehung und Sex. Aber sonst eben nichts.
Ich weiß auch nicht warum Carter sie unbedingt brechen wollte.
Just not my cup of tea I guess.
Weder Plot noch Protas konnten mich überzeugen. Bin froh, dass ich nicht den Sammelband gekauft habe.
Werd nichts mehr von der Autorin lesen.
