Not my favorite Vonnegut, but still a classic. Some bits haven’t aged well—part of a larger monologue of mine on the nature and ephemerality of satire that I won’t get into right now—but still plenty of bite both today and in its historical context.

Oh Vonnegut you get me. Your narrations, your repetitive charm, your necessary drawings, your meta-commentary... Nothing is off limits here. Vonnegut takes a great look, in his own unique style, at America and shakes his rear at it. It's hilarious and perfectly pointed. Breakfast of Champions isn't my favorite of his novels, but I'm still working my way through his entire oeuvre.
How many novels that you have read recently made you look at the world in a different way? Whether you like this one or not, I can assure you that it will make you look at everything around you in a slightly different light, and that alone should make it worth it.
