This was a good book right up until the end. It was a little slow at the beginning and I felt like the chapters were long. But it worked to keep me reading later than I planned. I missed many a bed time. It was a solid 3 moving towards a 4. The ending or I should say lack of ending for ruined it for me. They both abruptly end with no resolution and I hated it, I almost threw my iPad against the wall I was so upset! But luckily I was fiscally minded enough not to.
I received this book as an Advanced Reader's Copy (ARC) through NetGalley. I received this copy free in exchange for my honest review.

Ahhhh, Jodi Picoult.
I generally love her work - I’ve read a lot of her novels and, although formulaic, they always grip me with their interesting plots, unexpected twists and the clear research that has gone into the story.
The Book of Two Ways did not do any of this - it’s clear she researched very well. So well, in fact, that I felt like I was reading an Egyptology textbook.
The characters were so unlikeable and the plot was ... to be honest, boring.
Sad to say as I usually love her novels but this one was completely pointless. And the ending just annoyed me.

A good novel to Boston and her. And the plane crashes and she survives. The story then splits and it changes to cash it and try to mend things for their husband Brian. They recently started fighting about a graduate student that he had flirted with the other path is back to Egypt where she did her graduate studying. To a man named Wyatt who she loved very much. But during her graduate years her mother started to die and entered hospice so Dawn went back to you and comforted her mother in her last days that is what she meant Brian shortly after she came back to the us. She sort of forgot about Wyatt and continued her life how in this alternate universe she has chosen to go to Egypt and see why they are discovering in another tomb and she gets thrown into that work. Eventually why it in her reconnect and they Foster a new romance. at the same time if that storyline there is the other storyline of how she and Brian are coming to terms with their marriage. They both want to continue and work very hard at it and seem to fall back in love. There is complications though. Her daughter is often feeling depressed because she is great. Parents don't understand this since they goes then people in her job done takes on a new client when. When wants to tell an old lover that she has never forgotten him. It seems to be a reflection of dawn site because that is exactly what is happening in her ultimate time. In order to accomplish this feat of telling the other lover she takes a note to the man across the ocean to france. The plane crashes after her she sees the man and besides not to give another. And the plane crashes you suddenly realized that it wasn't too alternate universes that had started but that she had done the first the first time in the second the second time. Now she flies to Egypt needs quiet. Right before she took off her daughter reviewed that she taking a DNA test and had found out that her parents were like 97% british. Both Brian and Dawn realize that Brian is not her biological father but that wyatt is. In Egypt on tells why it about her daughter and that he is a father this is when the plane crashes. she wakes up as brain surgery and is fine. Brian comes to be by her bedside as he misses her. Dawn introduces Wyatt to his daughter. The ending is a bit ambiguous since don't know who she chose, but you're sort of alleged to believe that she chose Wyatt.
This story was different than I expected. I found it a bit boring because it was so textbook heavy and then I enjoyed it more in the ending chapters. I usually like learning about different subjects or communities through fiction but this one was too much for me and I almost didn’t finish.

Usually, I love Jodi Picoult books. I had a difficult time with this one. There is a lot of detail about ancient Egypt, which was a bit overwhelming.
Didn’t like all the Egyptian info. Bored me a good amount. Didn’t feel like continuing to the end.

This is my first Jodi Picoult book and after seeing a couple of friends enjoy this one, I decided that I wanted to give this one a go and plot sounded like a great read for the summer months, and this is a book that really makes you think; it makes you stop and consider everything that multitude of possible paths set before us, the regret that can linger in the shadows of our choices, and the reality that each one of us will one day reach the end of our road.
This book centres around Dawn; she is walking a fine tightrope of balancing her life and career as a death doula, raising a daughter who has a body image issues as well as maintaining her relationship with her husband of some 15 years Brain and living a complacent life. However, hidden away is Dawn’s dream of pursuing a career in Egyptology. That she spent semesters of her collegiate life immersed in the tombs, recovering mummified remains, and deciphering hieroglyphics. In that period of her life, Wyatt dominated her heart.
This story flips between time and place, from both past to present until the 2 come to a collision and decisions must be made as to what Dawn wants from her life. Picoult writes about the simple complexities of just being a human and about the choices that we all make, the people that matter in our life. This is richly descriptive and heavily detailed, multilayered storytelling, thoughtful, insightful and well written on life's deepest questions but will not be for everyone. An emotionally satisfying and touching novel that I recommend highly to others.
