Actor Boone Sheridan is spending the summer in Los Angeles dealing with the fallout of a scandal involving his co-star's divorce, which led to him being dropped from the movie he was supposed to film while on hiatus from his hit TV show. In an effort to rehabilitate his reputation and shift attention away from the scandal, Boone's publicist suggests that he find himself a "girlfriend." She offers to match him with an up-and-coming actress, but the last thing Boone wants is his management team getting involved in his love life. He'd much rather spend his time with a "normal" girl - someone like Eve Tracey, the pretty barista at his new favorite coffee shop. Eve, meanwhile, has just learned that her supposed best friend and roommate, Becca, is sleeping with her boyfriend. When her celebrity crush Boone finds her crying and invites her to lunch, she's surprised, but not as surprised as when he asks her to be his fake girlfriend. Against her better judgment, Eve agrees to go along with Boone's plan, but will she be able to keep herself from falling in love with him for real?

Boone and Eve were absolutely perfect together! Their chemistry was amazing and I adored their witty banter. Also, even though their relationship grew quickly, I appreciated that it never felt like insta-love. They really got to know each other and formed a genuine friendship at the same time as they were falling in love. After everything Eve and Boone had been through with their previous partners, they each deserved to find someone who would truly love and support them, and it was wonderful to see them find what they needed in each other.

I highly recommend "Lucky Star" for all contemporary romance fans and hope that this isn't the end for this series and its characters. Boone's co-star Simone needs a story too! After her ugly divorce, she deserves a happy ending of her own.

Fake dating trope.
Forced proximity.
Celebrity romance.

Eva moved to LA with a dream but instead she finds herself working two odd jobs to make ends meet. One afternoon, at the coffeeshop where she's a barista, she received a video of boyfriend cheating with her roommate. After months of swooning over the famed TV star visiting the local coffee shop, she finally speaks to him after he comes to her rescue. Secretly she has been pining for him for years on the "fan" site she maintained.

Boone is in need of a public rehab of his image, and he finds himself drawn to ask her to help him change the public perception about his love life. Every minute they spend together, the more their bond tightens from friendship to lovers in a very slow-burn romance.

Hollywood and the girl nextdoor are sweet, caring and lovable in Lucky Star.

Thank you Susannah Nix for the advance reader copy of this novel.

Considering what Boone did, I thought there was going to be a lot more groveling.

Gaaaahhhh! I loved this book!

𝗟𝗨𝗖𝗞𝗬 𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗥 is a freaking delight. Boone and Eve are EVERYTHING. Evie is hardworking, sweet, and relatable.  I loved reading about her growth in this book as she goes from being kind of lost in her life to choosing a direction and purpose and then getting at it! And Boone was so insanely sexy. He's such a cinnamon roll hero and if you like guy-takes-care-of-sick-girl trope then buckle up, bitches!...because it is so damn good.

I really loved that Boone is a character who has been in an emotionally abusive relationship in the past. This is so often relegated to female leads. His experience was handled with realism, honesty, and compassion. So well done! I really wish therapy had been part of his healing process because I think we need more male characters in therapy.

The steam in 𝗟𝗨𝗖𝗞𝗬 𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗥 was melt-yo-kindle hot and the slow burn of this fake-relationship really amps up the chemistry. Book sex is so much better when we have been nibble horny breadcrumbs for a hundred pages first. Just sayin'.

I should mention that this book doesn't quite succeed as a standalone. The only reason I came to realize it wasn't the first book in the series is because I got to a point where I thought "who are all of these characters and what are these half-told back stories about them? I will definitely go back and read the series from the beginning because this book was great!

I absolutely loved 𝗟𝗨𝗖𝗞𝗬 𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗥! It had meaningful friendships, complex characters, tackled some tough issues, and provided a decidedly wonderful HEA to Boone and Eve. Now I'm off to start this series from the beginning!

𝗥𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗡𝗚: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫
𝗦𝗧𝗘𝗔𝗠 𝗟𝗘𝗩𝗘𝗟: Rated R / 1-4 descriptive sex scenes, may have harsh language.
𝗧𝗥𝗜𝗚𝗚𝗘𝗥𝗦: cheating ex, emotionally abusive ex
𝗙𝗘𝗘𝗟𝗦: 3/5 - So many feels you might tear up a little.

I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Lucky Star is a fangirl's dream. Who wouldn't want to run into their celebrity crush at the cafe they work at and have him ask you to be his pretend girlfriend to get the tabloids off his back? And then if you end up moving into his house and the pretend dating isn't entirely pretend anymore, who are you to complain? Eve sure isn't. She's been Boone's barista for a while but the day she finally gets to talk to him turns out to be one of the shittier days in her life - she's just found out that her boyfriend and roommate are having sex behind her back, so now she's out a boyfriend and a place to live. Fortunately, famous Hollywood star Boone Sheridan is in need of a wholesome "normal" girl to act as his girlfriend so the media will stop reporting that he's the one who broke up his costar's marriage. Eve can't quite believe this guy she used to be somewhat obsessed with even knows she exists and while she has her reservations about the arrangement, she agrees to help Boone out. Turns out that decision was the best one she could have made for both of their lives going forward.

I really liked this book, as well as both Eve and Boone. Both characters are really likable, they have great chemistry, and their conversations and the progression of their relationship felt very natural and believable.

Overall, it's a really cute, fluffy book with great characters and a fun plot.
