I was expecting brilliance, and wonderland. It didn’t deliver. What I got was mediocre, and …I don’t know, crazy old English town?
I enjoyed the love interest, but it’s not like you can hope for a HEA when you already know she ends up being the queen of hearts. The plot twists were, to me, very obvious. I really liked the triplets! I think they were my favorite part and really showed the writers creativity, where the parts in wonderland seemed like she was trying to shove her story in where it didn’t belong.
…it was fine? Maybe recommend to a teenager who sort of likes the Alice movies?
Did anyone else picture Tom Hiddleston as Jest or was that just me?

I've always loved Wonderland, so an origin story for the Queen of Hearts? Yes, please!
I finished Heartless yesterday and I still don't know how to feel. It's such a good book—but that ending??? As a reader I knew how the story would end, and yet I still hoped. Stubbornly, hopelessly hoped... and somehow, watching it happen was even sadder than I expected. A tragic love story wrapped in cursed fate.
The way everything slowly gets darker is so sad, but so beautifully done. The ending was, inevitably, an awful outcome, but the way Catherine fell into deep despair was so smoothly, so brilliantly written. Devastating, but brilliant. The way she loses her heart was pretty unique and a good plot twist.
Murderer. Martyr. Monarch. Mad.
Marissa Meyer's writing is whimsical and haunting at the same time.
This book was an unforgettable read—heartbreakingly beautiful.

I absolutely loved the idea of the queen of hearts back story and lowkey can justify her behavior after this, and this book was so good but at the same time I felt like it was so bad.
I loved Catherine's character and her development through out the book but GOD do I wish someone just gave her that bakery she dissevered it so much !!!.
But the other characters were so fucking annoying the King felt repetitive and just flat out like a walking ick, And also I feel like she did my man the hater dirty he felt evil and foul when I don't think that's him at all, However she did amazing when it comes to the Cheshire cat, the banter those two had really kept me going through out slow ass pieces of this book.
UGHHH and Jest I don't know why but I felt that man was built brick by brick for that girl, and fucking Mary Anne did not deserve to be saved, I honestly just kept screaming GIVE THIS GIRL A BREAKKK.
Also I love the crow so much for being the only thing that stuck around for Catherine and didn't judge her at all for anything because the crow could feel the pain that she was going through and he also knew Catherine tried to do everything to get her happy ending for Jest.

Marissa Meyer has become one of my favorite authors! I’m going to need to read the rest of her books.

oh my god the FEELS!!!! I'm destroyed! This book tore me up! How dare you Marissa?! My heart can't take this much pain!
I can't even concoct a clear thought about
how good this book was. It is pretty slow paced in the first half but Marissa's writing makes it go by pretty fast. So it didn't bother much as others. I also love all of the characters, even though ones that I really hated but only because they were kinda the antagonists of the story. But I especially loved Jest! He was amazing, charming, funny, michevous. I also loved how there were so many references to the original story. I caught a lot of them since I read this after I read the original Alice.
This book was amazing and it passed my expectations! I'm still reeling over that ending. Never realized Marissa would be this cruel.
