Okay, so I thought this would be one of those good-but-not-great fantasy series. And boy, was I wrong! First of all, it's Carissa, so could it not be great? And second, I fell in love with these books, each and every one of them. Here, there is no second-book syndrome, and I have loved every page of it.

It is vulnerable, it is deep, it is painful, it is so full of emotions and I cannot put it away. Carissa has done it again!

I am enjoying the War of Lost Hearts series, but this book felt tediously long at some points. However, I liked how the story progressed, I didn’t see half the plot twists coming and I appreciate how the characters developed throughout this sequel. I think my favorite part of this book were Aefa’s chapters, they added depth and some much needed background to the story.
