Just didn’t work for me. Almost DNFd several times but I was at 60% and felt like the sunk cost was too much.

The pacing felt off and it was slow and uninteresting for most of it. No chemistry, really. I couldn’t understand why Ruby kept the secret of her “friend” she met once. There was just a lot that didn’t work for me.

I’ve had this one on my shelf for a while, and I finally got around to picking it up. I’m so glad I did! It was such a cute story and reminded me how much I loved my visit to Scotland. The author’s scenery depictions made me feel like I was right there with Ruby! Ruby was a messy and complicated character. She was very easy to connect with and root for. Brochan was sexy, hardworking, and cared so deeply about his home and people. I loved the way they started as friends and then it turned into something more. The banter between them was well timed and made me giggle at times. Their chemistry was so good, and the slow burn was well written. It was definitely resolved in a satisfying way. The secrets between them made the miscommunication a tad annoying because you knew it was going to blow up in their faces. The plot held my interest and kept turning pages. The ending was fitting and wrapped the story up nicely.
