I'm not sure what's going on but this book just isn't doing it for me. The characters feel a little flat, except for Grace the older woman running the pub. The interactions between the male and female main characters feels very forced and disingenuous. Not that the characters are lying to each other, but it feels disingenuous to me as a reader.
Concept was good, but the execution and hook just weren't there for me.

Ruby Spencer is done with the grind of NYC. She decides to sell her belongings and move to Scotland for a year. While in Scotland, she decided to write a cookbook and sample whisky. Of course, things never go as planned.
Who doesn't want to escape to Scotland? The descriptions in this book made me want to book a trip ASAP. I also enjoyed the audiobook version because it was narrated well.
Thank you, PRH Audio, for my complimentary copy.

As much as it pains me.. 2.5⭐️
A bit sad. I just did not feel their connection at all. Brochan also rubbed me the wrong way from the very start which was a bummer. I didn’t understand the need for all the secrets.

"Ruby Spenser’s 'Whiskey Year' offers a simple, slightly steamy, and light read with a picturesque Scottish backdrop. Despite a myriad of tropes scattered throughout the story, the premise unfolds as an enjoyable escape.
With a rating of 3 out of 5 stars, this book is best suited for those seeking an easy beach read to get lost in, appreciating the blend of romance, culinary pursuits, and Highland charm."
