Won this book which I really appreciated. Have read three other books by this author and really looked forward to reading this one. This is a memoir of three years of the authors life and it is quite intense as it recaps the loss of her sister Nora and then the loss of her husband Jerry. There is also great happiness of finding a new love and then her own battle with the cancer that took Nora’s life. There are funny parts too. Recommend this book.

I knew nothing about this book or it’s author prior to reading it, but was instantly captivated from the beginning.

After reading this, our book club decided all memoirs should be written by people over 70 because they have perspective. Delia tells of her husband’s death and her own near-death battle with leukemia with raw & brutal honesty, yet the story is joyful, warm, and just sparkles with life & hope. She is surrounded by friends & falls in love with a man whose optimism and commitment probably saved her life. The book radiates joy despite the heavy subject matter.

It’s a book everyone should read, unless, perhaps, those to whom the story might hit too close to home. If you or a loved one have walked a similar path, it could definitely be a lot.

I appreciated Delia's vulnerability and openness as she recounts a difficult, but also often joyous, time in her life. Her humor made me chuckle at points.
