Interesting and entertaining.
I am not a big fan of the super long story and descriptions.
I am amazed and pleasantly surprised at the explicit scenes of blood and death, that they were written by a woman in the 1700s! Wonderful.
I read this book parallel to Northanger Abbey and it brought a deeper understanding and enjoyment 😁

Beautiful! If not for the loose ends and Emily's annoying and repetitive resistance to finally forgive Valencourt....

Idk why people are haters on this app. This book was incredible.

this made me appreciate northanger abbey so much more that i can almost forgive the constant repetition of "pensive" and "sublime"

There is something especially rewarding about finishing a 650 page tome of a book. When first I began Udolpho, I was worried how a 1794 gothic novel that took place two hundred years before that would hold up. But honestly? It was beautifully written, characters were distinct and loveable, and it was a romp of a read. At times it was insightful and heartfelt, and other times even humorous.

I am a major Ludovico fan, Annette is a lucky woman.

Fuck, I don’t even know what else to say, but hell yeah. Good book.
