I love this introduction to Riri Williams and her story! I think she’s funny and obviously really smart, but clearly still a young teenage girl trying to find her place in the world. I love the representation and brightness Riri exudes despite losing so many loved ones. I can’t wait to see Riri grow as a superhero, as a woman, and as just a kid in need of fun and happiness.

I love Riri and her origins however points off for having a "last week on Ironheart" vlog to start every issue. Not a lot happens outside her origin but the ground work laid out here is quite exciting.

Yes! An absolute home run. There are some tropes Marvel is starting to fall into that could become cliche if not careful, but, honestly, a cliche 'far too smart at too young an age minority girl' would be a pretty cool cliche to see take off. The book is written with a lot of heart and I can't wait to see where they go with it and her.

I'm struggling to explain my rating here, Riri as a character and this whole plot is A+. I love Riri, I think this is a fun new entry into the Iron Man mythos. However it's Bendis... He's a fine writer but I wish anyone else had written this. It feels kind of bad to have a middle-aged white man writing a teenage black girl, especially her backstory. Plus it's lots of Bendis speak and the first 5 issues cover just one day in Riri's life, fine I guess but I'm not a fan of that Bendis style of decompressed story-telling. I'll read more of her adventures when the next trade is out, but I just wish anyone else had written this.

I think I've found a new character to love. Riri is fabulous. I especially enjoyed her straight-to-camera vlog diaries to into each issue. While I really enjoy the way Bendis writes, I'd love to see Riri in the hands of a WOC author.

Finally got around to reading this after months of suspended holds at the library, and omg so worth the wait! The art is incredible, the story is fun but with solid feels, the banter is on point and Riri is the best thing ever.

Might not actually wait for volume 2 at the library but head to the comic store instead...
