Hints of what Poirot will become, but not worth picking up when there's 32 others featuring him. Christie seemed obsessed with the "big reveal" here, at the expense of 3/4 of the book being utterly confusing. She spends the middle half just dropping clues that have seemingly no connection just so the final scene hits harder.
Still a fun book to pick up and read on your phone waiting for a train, but not worth carving out time on the couch for. 2/5

I only have one quarrel. Why everyone thinks poirot to be this insanely great detective is beyond me. Why the narrator is head over heals for Mr. Poirot but would not use his own brain. What baffles me the most is that everyone is saying that he is so great but very little is shown. Maybe in the future books it gets better. Let's see.

Wow really good. It was really well described, even that sometimes i felt like there were too much clues i didnt know how to think. Poirot has a beautiful mind and i loved the development. The explanation at the end was really good - but there is still a little detailt that i didnt quite understand and i think it is mostly because im just dumb lol

It was brilliant as always !! So many fabulous, classic lines. I didn't enjoy it as much as 'Death on the Nile' but considering it's Christie's first Poirot ... revolutionary! And it's so fun.

buku kedua christie yg aku baca, dan masih bener bener bamboozled di akhir pas ketahuan pelakunya, gak expect banget, bener2 terkecoh [T.T]
I feel that poirot has op detective ability, nothing escapes his eyes, sometimes to the point of deus ex machina, but it's okay karna aku lumayan enjoy baca ini, maklum jg karna ini novel pertamanya AC. Sbg detektif lebih enak baca Poirot dari pada Sherlock, doi humble, humoris, dan gak se blurry/avoidant sherlock klo lagi nyembunyiin petunjuk2 kasus, Hastings has his own personality, but mostly act as a reader-like narrator.
Penulisannya ya emg kyk klasik pada umumnya, feelnya itu lho, tp aku appreciates word countnya gak unnecessarily panjang kyk kebanyakan klasik.
