I read this series backwards and read the third one first. I fell in love with Adam and Persephone and needed to know their love story!! So great!!! Another hit for Sarah Eden!

A hades and persephone retelling. A scarred and surly duke enters into an arranged marriage with the sweet and caring eldest daughter of a scholar to piss off the presumptive heir. Instead, he finds himself unwillingly falling in love.
Read this with a friend. It started slow, but by the end I didn’t want to put it down (typical of this sort of book). I liked how she pulled in the Hades/Persephone story from Greek Mythology; I had recently read Stephen Fry’s Mythos and was already familiar with the story. I liked the way both characters grew and how their love story unfolded.

Quick vacation read. Perfect for reading by the lake.
I thoroughly enjoyed the character development in this book. A marvelous old castle to explore, heartache at missing family, and the parallels to the Hades-Persephone myth worked well. I look forward to reading more by this author.
I really liked this book, the story was clean and well told the characters fleshed out and the protagonist wasn't a wimp. Learning about some history and culture was good to.
