Not sure why, but I expected more myths, fairies, and stories and less god stuff.

Strong start with a rocky finish, a cool concept, with really informative, cultural aspects, but loses itself and its purpose by the end. A book that probably could have been shortened by 100 pages, missed its potential by being too dramatic and poetic.

Each time I read one of John's books, it takes me a few years to finish. But it's always worth it.
Highly recommend to anyone who is a human.

This book is probably one of my favorites. It speaks right to my soul. John O'Donohue's poetic prose describes the stages of life and how to meet them with emotional grace and serenity. I adore his language, the way he presents the world, and his honesty. I've sent a couple quotes from this book to friends struggling and re-read those quotes anytime I struggle and need reminded of the beauty of our earth.
Favorite quote:
“Your soul knows the geography of your destiny. Your soul alone has the map of your future, therefore you can trust this indirect, oblique side of yourself. If you do, it will take you where you need to go, but more important it will teach you a kindness of rhythm in your journey.”
