It's my first time reading anything by this author, but I'd like to check out more of her books! Also, this is the fourth book in the series, and it can be read as a standalone!

I really enjoyed this story, which is about a charming, sexy, and meaningful second-chance sports romance set in a small town. Bishop is thrilled to be back with the girl he's missed so much, and although Gabi makes an attempt to resist, it doesn't take long for them to start falling back in love.

Their relationship is simple and natural. They are completely honest with one another, have deep love for one another, and don't hold anything back. The small-town ambiance and the times spent with loved ones and friends are what really enhance their story.

Thank you Grey's Promotions and Jillian Liota for providing me with this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I liked this one a whole lot! Bishop and Gabi's second chance romance was awfully sweet and pretty darn low angst. I was really rooting for them from the jump; they were just so well suited for each other. And I really loved how determined they were to not repeat the mistakes from their past - their communication skills were on point this time around. Overall this was another winner in the series and I'm very excited to see what's to come in the final book. I have my suspicions and it'll be fun to see if I'm on the right track.

Overall Grade: B

Tropes: second chances; pro baseball MMC; artist FMC; small town romance; opposites attract

The Echo of Regret is the first book I’ve read from Jillian Liota. Something about the blurb attracted me to this story, even though it’s the final book of her Cedar Point series and I hadn’t read the earlier books of the series. With all of that, I was pleasantly surprised that I chose well with this story. Often when you read a story in a series, you feel as though you missed out on a bigger sense of the story. I never felt this way reading The Echo of Regret. Did it pique my curiosity for the other stories? Of course, but I also didn’t feel compelled to pick them up immediately to read them.

Bishop and Gabi have different intensities throughout the book. At first, Bishop reads as almost indifferent to the reason for their break-up. It is underplayed in contrast to Gabi’s disdain for him. Even more, Liota ameliorates this pretty quickly which is one of my criticisms of this book. Bishop moves from indifference to intense interest in reconciling. At 61%, Bishop and Gabi are already moving towards reconciliation, and I thought they needed more discussion of the past before doing this (my second criticism). I’m certain Liota didn’t want her readers to wait too long for it, given Gabi tended to cycle through her feelings for Bishop quite a bit (almost repetitively - my third criticism). Still, Liota remedies it through Gabi and Bishop moving forward. Bishop recognizes that Gabi will never be more important than baseball, the mindset of a man four years older and wiser.

Jillian Liota’s The Echo of Regret reminded me of Laura Pavlov, Devney Perry, and that ilk. It’s sweet and spicy small-town romance that uplifts after putting you through a juggernaut of emotions first. If this is your jam, you should grab this one!

Bishop and Gabi are very cute together. They are just what the other person needs and I'm so glad that they were able to be friends again and then more. They really learned how to communicate and be in a healthy relationship as adults.

I received an arc from grey's promotion.

This was such a cute second chance romance.

Bishop and Gabi were each other first loves. Things ended between them, Gabi moved back to their hometown after college and Bishop chased after his dreams of making it big in baseball.

Bishop is back in his home town recovering from an injuring he sustained from debut in the minor leagues. While in town he takes on a job at the local high school helping with the team. While coming to grips with what is future possibly looks like, things begin to rekindle between the two.

I loved watching these two both grow as individuals but also grow together as a couple.

I didn’t mean to finish this book in one sitting, but then I kept making excuses instead of going to bed, so here I am writing a book review at 2AM. If that doesn’t tell you that the book was great then I don’t know what would.

I loved the second chance romance in this story between Gabi and Bishop, they had a hard break up, and while learning to be friends again also realize their feelings are still there. With their past, they still have a lot to work through but their chemistry and friendship makes it hard to ignore the possibility for more!

I really need to go back and read the first few books in this series because I love the family dynamics between Bishop and his siblings!

This book was a really enjoyable second chance, small town, baseball romance. Thank you Jillian and Grey's Promotion, for sending me the ARC.

Bishop and Gabby's story is a great golden retriever x black cat, reverse grumpy x sunshine. Gabby isn't afraid to tell you how it is, and I love that about her. Learning their story of miscommunication and how it led to their break up was so sad for me, since these two seem to have been end game since junior high. It led to a great second chance story when Bishop has to move home after an injury in his first minor league game.

The ways these two wiggle their way back into each other's lives were so fun. They both end up working at the high school together, they start to hang out and build their friendship back up, and the way they show they care for each other is really sweet. I loved the way their story ended.
