Felt like a cool, refreshing drink from a sparkling spring. I loved this book. You will love it too. It twinkles with whimsy and heart.

I’m almost brought to tears by the sincerity of my love for this book. I’m so glad I finally read it after loving the movie since I was a young kid.

Peter S. Beagle is a master of language, and this story felt both immensely melancholic and like a warm hug. If you have any love for fantasy, give it a read.

How DARE you come to me now, when I am this! - Molly Grue

Genuinely one of the greatest fantasy novels of all time. The Last Unicorn is one of my Top 10 Books of All Time, very easily. Beagle's writing flows effortlessly, and his compelling story of adventure and the mystery of the unicorns keeps you riveted to the pages. His characters are so lifelike and relatable, they practically leap off the pages, much like Schmendrick's apparitions of Robin Hood and his Merry Men. I would encourage you to also watch the animated film from 1982 by Bass and Rankin - the script features lines from the book heavily, and the whole film is beautifully done.

beautiful prose, and a delightful read!

I'm amazed that some people Don't consider this a classic. Some people have actually laughed when I told them I was reading it. Ok, so the movie may have had a dated soundtrack, and not everyone liked it. But the story is sometimes fun but always beautiful, and it should be shared with your daughters, nieces, sisters, grand-daughters, and friends. It's a perfect fantasy novel for girls.
