The Summer Skies is another Jenny Colgan story that is a joy to read! The main characters are likeable and well-developed, with Morag being relatable, with her clash of confidence and self-doubt, and Gregor being anything but the stereotypical hero (in rather classic Colgan style). Morag's bestie Nalitha is hilarious with her acerbic sense of humour, and Morag's boyfriend Hayden comes off as attractive without being perfect.

As a huge Scot-o-phile, I adored the setting of Northern Scotland, and reading about the remote islands with their flora and fauna (especially the birds!). I can't fail to mention the special supporting characters Barbara and Frances who added such amusement and endearment to the plot. ;-) It was also interesting to see a Finnish (minor) character. That doesn't happen very often!

The book does indeed include a lot of aviation technology, but as a regular, but often somewhat nervous flyer, I found it all a quite interesting addition to the story.

It's difficult to guess if this might be the first in a new series of books. Owing to the plot, there wasn't a lot of opportunity to include secondary characters who might get a story, but I'd love to visit with these characters and locations again, so hopefully the author might have more to tell!

A nice, light listen. Well done on audio but I lacked a connection to the story. The main character was a bit annoying to me so it was harder to be invested.

I just couldn’t get into the characters. It could have possibly been because I had just read the first 4 books of Jenny Colgan Mure series and was loving all those characters and it was surprising when this book is the next in the series but had a whole new cast of characters. I might pick it back up at some point and see if I have a different experience.
