The perfect end to one of my favorite book series of all time. These characters and stories are like a warm cup of Mexican Hot Chocolate, a tad spicy and yet so comforting. I'm so sad the series is over but I will be re-reading for years to come. "I'm not letting go." 🧡🖤

This book was the third book in a trilogy, with a lot of overlapping scenes with previous books. Reading the other two books is critical to following this book. I even had to go back and reread a bit of the second book to piece some things together/figure out if I had missed things from the second book.

I like how interconnected this book was with the other two, but I disliked how much the timeline jumped around to accomplish it. It made the story feel very choppy and unevenly paced, which caused me to lower the rating by a half of a star.

Rating: 3.75/5
Spice: 3/5

So, this book was harder to get than I would have liked. No where within a 3 hour drive of us got in any copies unfortunately. I was finally able to order a copy online but it took a week to get via mail (yes, our mail really is that slow). But I finally got hold of a copy, and I have been buddy reading it with a friend.
Scythe & Sparrow is the third book in the series & while each are pretty much standalones, following different characters it is best to read them in order (to avoid any potential spoilers of course).
Scythe & Sparrow follow Fionn & Rose's story & takes place over the course of both Butcher & Blackbird and Leather & Lark. I absolutely loved that we got to see all of Fionn & Rose's story - from the moment Rose first crashed into Fionn's life turning it on it's head.
Rose is from a traveling circus, she does tarot & helps women who may need it, and rides her motorcycle in the metal cage. But she decides to take a more hands on approach at helping the women - and partake in a little murder and mayhem which doesn't exactly go according to plan. Which is how she finds Fionn.
Fionn ran from a broken heart to live a quiet life as a doctor in a small town in Nebraska. But running from his past, also meant he left his brothers behind too. So when a woman comes to him, begging for his help, he can't turn her away.
I have loved this series since I first read Butcher & Blackbird, and Scythe & Sparrow is no different. I loved how this one tied all of the stories together & loved seeing Fionn and Rose's story - how they came to be, and their happy ever after. Much like the other two - this one is also filled with trigger Warnings, dark romance and humor, and I ate up every second of it. And while I am sad to see the series come to an end, I definitely enjoyed it.
5⭐ out of 5⭐.

Kinda felt like there was a plot with all the books that gets lost in pursuit of smut.  Honestly I enjoy a found family, and the wholesome ride or die vibes are immaculate, but I'm not enamoured with the lack of depth.  I guess I had expectations that weren't met but I'm having a hard time even explaining why.  Maybe I'm not the exact target audience, so I'm wanting both more of some things and less of others.

Scythe & Sparrow was an absolute blast, and let me just say—Fionn Kane is HOT AF. The man is out here patching people up in a fight club, crocheting like a menace, and watching reality TV like it’s his job. Literal perfection. And then there’s Rose, my favorite character in the entire trilogy, because she’s a hilarious, badass queen who takes zero crap from anyone. Lark is a close second because, well, he’s Lark.
And we CANNOT forget the side characters—Barbara, Sandra, and the Suture Sisters? Absolute icons. This book would not be the same without them.
If you love sharp banter, found family, and a romance that crackles with chemistry, you need this book in your life. 5 stars of pure chaos and perfection. 🔥🖤✨

The plot, the characters, the spice, and the humor were genuinely all worth the hype.  It was such a funny book but also well balanced in there with murder (deserved) and past trauma.  It was so nicely done!!  This series is a new favorite.

Fionn being in a crochet group was hilarious and so wholesome.  I really liked how complex his character was as I got to know more about him.  He was at war with a raccoon and makes doilies in his free time an absolute icon if I’ve ever heard of one.  And Rose was just as amazing!  I really liked her vibes from the other books so it was nice to have her POV as well.  The circus element was so fun to read, I really liked how she decided to take a wild raccoon and make it her pet.

Also I absolutely live for all the characters being grossed out by eyeballs…. and then there’s Sloane just vibing in her specialty; it made me laugh how she is just plucking away.

This was an excellent conclusion to the trilogy! I was so hyped for this release and Brynne exceeded expectations. I loved how the threads of the first two stories were woven (crocheted?) into this seamlessly. My minor qualm is that I wish it was longer so we got more of the back story of Rose’s circus life, but I think overall Brynne’s style is a fast-paced ride. This was the perfect mix of spicy spice, heartbreak, swooning, and romance. 5/5 vibes.

The Ruinous Love Trilogy is the best dark romance series I’ve read so far. Each book is equally lovable for different reasons. Well done, Brynne!
