Suuuuuuuper outdated. There are other ADHD books to read unless you're researching how ADHD was viewed in 1993 or 2010 (updated) version.
Would have been great back then - hard to find helpful info, and it was better than most.

I'm so glad this book exists, but at the same time, I'm sure there's better out there. I read the edition from 1993, and, well, a LOT has changed since then. I'm aware that this book has updated versions, but this one I found in a little free library is what I got to work with. There were some useful tips, but it felt very dated and there were a lot of spelling and grammatical errors.
All in all, a decent intro to ADHD (though I would definitely opt for the latest updated version if I were you). The authors are women with ADHD, so they definitely understand and try to be inclusive in the way ADHD manifests in women too. Through this book, you'll gain a better understanding and even appreciation for your ADHD.

I think the audiobook is easier to digest than the physical copy based on the reviews I've read. I listened to the audiobook and generally found it easy to get through. However, I will say the book shows its age so an updated version might be better. It was informative and I found parts helpful but it probably wouldn't be my first ADHD book recommendation.
The thing I appreciated most about this book was the breadth: the wide variety of ADD "archetypes" discussed, but especially some less common presentations. The combinations of ADD and other neurodivergences that can result in atypical expression.
The health issues that can *result* from "pushing through" ADD for much of your life.
Parts of this book haven't aged well, but overall it's really useful and well put together. Definitely seek out the later edition (2006 vs 1993), which has additional content and commentary.
I also appreciated their frequent invitations to skip around the book and take breaks
