Not my first by this author and won’t be my last!

-(sort of) insta-lust/love

Alright here we go! So, I have to say that I really enjoyed this one! I had multiple laugh out loud moments. Sophie is a clutz! If it’s going to happen, it’s gonna happen to her! The situations she found herself in, I actually found pretty funny! It might be a little over the top for some readers, but as a clumsy and unlucky person myself, I found it funny. The plot was well rounded and was cute and funny. It made sense WHY Cox would want to keep the marriage for a few months before divorcing. I absolutely loved the scenes with her dad. And let’s just say the bedroom scenes were pretty dang scorching. Like I said, I really enjoyed this book. It was definitely what I consider a light rom-com read with some good smutt.

Now, the reason for the deduction of a star if I enjoyed the book so much? Well, let me explain.

Although I really enjoyed our main characters, there were a few things that just felt off and screwed up the flow of the book for me (slightly) when it comes to their personalities. Sophie: at certain times she came off very child like. Pouting and telling him, “I’m still mad at you, you were mean to me”. But they wayyyyyy she said it was just very child like. When they have their “angsty” breakup moment, I can’t remember word for word what she said, but I remember thinking again that she was acting very child like. And maybe child like isn’t the right words I’m looking for? I’m definitely a very strong willed and independent woman (my poor husband will agree) and the way she acted at those times just seemed so... whiny? Again, I think that’s the wrong word, but hopefully y’all get what I’m trying to say. And then Camden at one point sits on the bed and pats the bed and says “come here” in a soft yet serious tone. Again, maybe it’s just me but the way it was written felt as if he was preparing to have a conversation with a child rather than the woman he’s sleeping with. It just felt weird. Not enough to deter me from liking the book, but definitely enough that I might have cringed a little on those parts.

The other thing that I (personally) didn’t find appealing was Camden’s nickname “sugar bug” for Sophie. I’m a Texan as well, but no Texas man better be calling me sugar bug lol but this might just be me, I’ve never been a big nickname/term of endearment person.

Other than those few things, I did enjoy this book. It’s not my first by this author and definitely won’t be my last.

Oh, before I go: there is definitely insta attraction and although they don’t say “I love you” super quick, they do develop feelings for each other pretty fast.

*I borrowed this book through kindle unlimited. I did not receive an advanced copy from the author*

I truly enjoyed Cox and Sophie’s story! It was funny and entertaining. I loved catching up with all the ladies of the Dirty Martini Running Club crew and the teaser left for Nora’s story has me excited for her story. Sophie was just adorably sweet and you couldn’t help but love her. Cox had his moments where you wanted to shake him but he also had some swoony moments...I didn’t expect to tear up but that epilogue got me. This was the perfect addition to the Dirty Martini Running Club series.

Overall, this was a cute book. The accidental Vegas marriage trope is a bit overdone, and there wasn’t much unique about this one. Plus Cox’s southern vocabulary was a bit over the top and cheesy, so I took off a star. Negatives aside, this was a well written book with likable main and side characters. If you’re looking for something light and easy, I recommend.

Sophie and Cox’s story was funny, sexy and a great read/listen. I love the hot mess express that Sophie is and her father was a trip. Savannah and Aiden brought the characters to life and were amazing as Sophie and Cox. It was great revisiting the Dirty Martini Running Club, once again Claire writes characters you fall in love with and I can’t wait for the next installment.

Better Than Expected

I thought I knew what to expect from a Claire Kingsley book, I have read every book she has written so far, I was wrong. Claire has once again managed to out do herself. I love Cox. He is a goid friend to Oliver and, so sweet and loving towards Sophia. I love Sophia. Who wouldn't? She is the kind of friend every girl needs and the type of girl most guys want. Both of their emotions jump off the page. I was angry when Cox was . I was devastated when he learned he had been betrayed. I was so scared when he thought he lost the woman he loves. I was terrified when Sophia was and devastated whenSophia felt unlovable. They are perfect for each other.

I hate that it had to end. I really didn't want to leave them. I already know I am in for another book hangover. Thank you CK for once again sharing your gift with me.

Can I just say I love that this story is supposed to be about a curvy blonde and the chick on the cover is like a size 2? Haha not quite the curvaceous character the book is supposed to be about. Kind of disappointing but whatever.

3.5 stars - I'm unsure if I'm going to continue with this series as I have been laughing less and less as the series progresses. I did finish this book in a day but it was very obvious and a bit over the top with the ridiculousness of her clumsiness. Overall I liked it but I am kind of tired of the series now.

This is the third book in Kingsley’s Dirty Martini Running Club series but does fine as a standalone. I just happened upon it and the new release caught my eye so I didn’t realize it was part of a series. Reading it was kind of a spoiler for the first two books, but I’ll probably read them anyway at some point. The other characters weren’t that interesting compared to Sophie and Cox, so I’m in no hurry to read the first two but they’re on my ‘read eventually’ list.

Kingsley is new to me but is one author who has my attention because her site contains playlists for her books, which is obviously something very close to my heart. The site also contains an exclusive prequel to the series as well so super-bonus.

I enjoyed this lighthearted, funny story, especially Sophie’s dad. It was a relatively quick read but the extended epilogue available on Kingley’s site is a nice bonus. That peek into the future is always appreciated when you like the characters. It’s a good twist on the fake marriage because this was a drunken debacle in Vegas but kind of snowballed from there. The story is entertaining, the characters are well-done and the comic relief is welcome.

There’s also a shade of enemies-to-lovers here because they knew each other as kids and he made her miserable back then but the childhood neighbors element is a refreshing change from the typical trope. Sophie’s a klutz and kind of a goofball but you can’t help rooting for her. Cox tries to be stoic and serious, but he’s really a big marshmallow when it comes to Sophie and his reaction to her is very sweet.

Sophie and Cox are both fun characters and though they have flaws, they’re inherently likable. There’s no egregious wrongs here which need to be righted, the communication is reasonable and nobody needs to act like a fool or the plot to work, all of which are a big plus for me in romance. I get my heavy stuff in the true crime and rarely read romance for the suspense. Ironic, I know, considering that’s mainly what I write, but it’s true.

Sometimes you just want a happy story about two people falling in love and Kingsley gives us that. I highly recommend Marrying Mr. Wrong but suggest reading the series in order, starting with the prequel on Kingsley’s site, because I do have some regret over spoiling it for myself.
