Even more fantastical than the first!

While I didn't love it, I liked it better than the first one. I wasn't quite as bored. I liked the characters better in this one. I liked the new characters introduced. This book just had more personality than "The Search For WondLa." I liked how they were in the city for the first part of the book and not just wandering mindlessly in the desert the whole way through the book. It still could have used some editing. It was a little too eco-friendly\we belong to the planet\mother earth for my taste. I will be reading the last one if only to see how he plans to end the series but I won't be rereading this one.

As I continue on with Eva's journey I get more and more attached to the world & characters. We are introduced to new characters (some good & some bad) while being reunited with old favorites (Otto!!!). Eva is put in the difficult place of trying to balance her old life/family with her new and things don't go according to plan. Again, these illustrations are amazing & really add to the story. I can't wait to go to work tomorrow & pick up the last one!!

I just finished A Hero For Wondla By Tony DiTerlizzi! A Hero For Wondla is the sequel to The search For Wondla! If you haven’t read The Search For Wondla you should go and read it! This sequel was better than the first book we get to see more of the world and are introduced to new characters! Eva develops more and changes as a person in this book. We learn more about humanity as a whole but there were still questions left unanswered! I look forward to book three!

This book surprised me in many ways. I always feel a mixture of apprehension and dread when I am starting a new sequel. Often I find myself either not liking it as much as the first book or having to work hard to persevere through it because "I just want to know what happens, gosh darn it!" But other times the sequel is actually enjoyable, like with A Hero for WondLa. This book was a lot of fun to read. The pictures, as always, are beautiful and creative. The universe expanded to include New Attica, which was fascinating, to say the least. And it is interesting to read how Eva Nine has grown and developed through her experiences. I am excited to finish reading the trilogy! I only wish that my library had a copy of this when I was younger because I am sure I would have fallen in love with this book if it had.

My final thoughts:
Moving forward to the next book. Hailey takes Eva to the human city of New Attica (doesn’t that vaguely like “New America”?). Rovender was taken to see the sights by Hailey’s 200-years-old grandfather, Van Turner. All new reboots, as Eva learns this is what they call Sanctuary born humans like herself, must be brought to the registrars office of New Attica. In the waiting room we meet Cadmus Pryde, the long time founder of this whole program! The creator. He also gives off this God-like aire about himself. Cadmus sends Hailey on his way with a promise of new parts for his rocket Bijou. Eva feels set up and abandoned as she’s taken on mini-tour through the registrar office.

About New Attica, it’s everything one might want in an awesome 22-3rd century city. We are all called by name as we step into pod-like taxis that hover over nothing. Nobody gets sick because the air is constantly purified, the food is flavored pellets, we are rationed with quota cards that are used to pay for everything from dinner to new emote-attire. Plus you’re surrounded by your peers.

It’s a fascination to see how the author, Tony DiTerlizzi, put Orbona (new Earth) into this very beautifully on paper. Giving the right amount of imagery where needed. Once again I would highly recommend this book, and cannot wait for the third one early this year!
