I LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF THIS BOOK.

Of course I am super biased because The Princess Diaries is definitely on the my list of all-time favourite book series, and POG and Micheal are my all time favourite OTP.

This book is laugh out loud funny, with some nice twists and is just so well done!

Is it selfish to want more?

Spoiler I feel like I/others would not object to a 12th book about Mia's struggles with motherhood!!

I wish I liked this more than I did, but… I liked it about as much as I expected. It was a must read for me just like the last Princess Diaries books were when I was probably getting a little too old for them (and getting annoyed with Mia), but of course wanted to finish the story.
SpoilerKilling off Mr G at the beginning (it’s the third page.. is this a spoiler??) was such a low blow and that it was done for the sole purpose of getting Mia’s parents back together just leaves a sour taste in my mouth. UGH. No. Just no. And of course it has happened a year ago, so nobody really has to dwell on it either and it can be just offhandedly mentioned every now and then. UGH.
Later, a plot contrivance to introduce a new series and the clichéd ending make pretty much no sense… All this and very little of Rocky... is enough to lose a whole star. Well… actually just the first part is, but yeah…
To add to the overall all rosiness (with acknowledgement that other people don’t have that great) everyone’s a little too successful and amazing…. Michael has always been perfect and now he is a millionaire as well.. (as if that is needed) and pretty much all of Mia’s friends are somewhat rich and privileged. I guess that suits a princess. While it does make sense that she would stay friends with SOME of her high school friends (and because the readers are already familiar with them), with all her social engagements, she hasn’t got to know anyone else or have a little more friends from college?? Really??

I was looking forward to reading about Mia’s life after high school, Michael and of course the wedding … of which there is very, very little… Especially for a book titled "Royal Wedding". But at least it was a nostalgic visit to a series I liked as a kid, even if it didn’t really deliver what I wanted but instead some stuff I didn't want.
That being said, the book was a really fun read with some highlights being JP’s clichéd YA dystopian novel (I wanted to read some extracts!! It just sounded so hilariously bad!!), Mia thinking that the paranormal hunks of a romance novel would just fall for each other and ignore her (someone needs to write this!), the leaked (mostly false) info about the engagement, Grandmère "not knowing how to text", Grandmère in general and the on point pop culture references. The tone is reminiscent from the previous books with Mia sounding suitably older (not too much… but believable as an adult), a character I liked before she got annoying, although she has a few face palm moments.

Mia’s eye is twitching and no one else seems to notice. Her cousin, Ivan, is running for PM against her father and so far it seems as if he is going to win – no thanks, of course to His Royal Highness getting arrested for speeding around in a race car. But not everything is falling apart, the best boyfriend ever, Michael Moscovitz, is able to find some time to take Mia away to a very private, exotic local where he pops the question. Mia’s teen community center is doing well and her employees are awesome. But being a princess isn’t easy; things are about to get complicated for Mia, Michael, and her entire family.

My life was lacking without getting to read the diaries of Princess Mia. Starting to read the eleventh installation of the Princess Diaries series, six years after the publication of the 10th and what readers thought was going to be the final book, was like coming home. Aside from the fact that Mia has grown up and is comfortable talking about adult things now, Cabot still captured the voice and feeling of the original Princess Diaries books. Getting to see Mia as an adult, a woman of my own age was wonderful. All of the essential characters are back for this installment and it was pretty amazing getting to see how their lives are going.

I was ecstatic when i found out this book was coming out. I would not be exaggerating if I said that I spent most of my school days entangled in the lives of Mia Thermopolis, Tina Hakim Baba, Lilly Moscowitz and the gang, Susannah Simon, Jess Mastriani, Samantha Madison etc. I love all these girls. So when I heard this book was coming out, it less of a new installment and more of a catching up with old friends. *SQUEAL*

But when I started reading the book, I felt like something very essential was missing. I wanted to know more about what happened with Tina and Boris. And also Lilly and Lars (OMG that was pure genius. Why didn't that happen before?? Oh wait, she was underage then. Right.) Less of J.P. because who really cares about him anymore? I also felt a lot of things were rather unnecessary. I think we all made are peace with the fact Mia's Dad and Mom were happy with their respective lives and significant other(s). Mr. Gianni was a genuinely warm and wonderful person and I don't see why he had to die. I mean, whatever it is that the Prince Phillipe and Helen Thermopolis had was over 25 years ago and I find it extremely hard to believe that he still feels that way. Does that make me a mean b*tch? Maybe. But hey I really did like Frank Gianni. He made Helen happy and he gave the us Rocky. Enough said.

And the thing with the sister. Sure she is cute and sweet and being mistreated and all but I kept asking myself WHY?? Why is she here????? Why can't there be more things about Tina and Lana (who did she marry???? I want to know more about this guy with the huge head and also about baby Purple Iris. All these tasty tidbits left me wanting more and I got Olivia Grace instead. STOP ! I'm not saying I don't like her. I do. I just like the others more.

But God this book just reminded me why Michael Moscowitz is JUST PERFECT and that I would do anything for a whiff of that clean, old Spice Michael scent. Also how cool is Fireman and Space Alien? ROFL.

So all in all, I wasn't completely happy with this book. God, I wish Tina and Boris would get their own book. Now that would be *totes absorb* !!!

P.S. The part where Lars takes a bite out of a GMO, peel and all. I would jump him too. :D

I always loved the Princess Diaries books even though I was well outside the intended audience. This one was nostalgically familiar though it was tough to get used to her talking about sex. Princess Mia is now 26, out of college and still dating Michael. She has grown into her princess role and has started a community center. Mia's problems are the definition of first world problems. She is rated #4 or lower on some royal ranking site, her father is behaving irresponsibly and why won't Michael propose. It was nice catching up with an old friend.

Okay...so, it wasn't as hilarious as the other princess diaries but though I have given it 1 extra star just for Olivia, Rocky and the TWINS...But whatever, I still love it as it has Michael!!!

I love you, Meg Cabot. But I'm a little disappointed that Mia came off as so immature in this. It was very similar in tone to the original YA books, with more adult-y jokes/mentions. Bummer that Princess Mia didn't get to evolve into a real adult.

I wanted this book to be so much better than it was. I love Mia and Michael so I was incredibly happy when I found out I would get to see their wedding unfold. However, the end result was a lack lustre story from one of my favourite authors as a pre-teen/teen.

It was amazing to go back into Mia's world after, for me, nearly ten years and still remember her character and her world clear as day. I recently (two years ago) tried to re-read the books that I had missed and found the earlier ones nearly unbearable from an adult perspective, excepting the tenth one (which I LOVED). I like that Meg Cabot has continued on with the more mature tone/issues from the tenth book while keeping Mia still as hilarious as ever, evidenced by my frequent laughs out loud! I especially love how she kept all the old pop culture icons that we know Mia is obsessed with (Buffy, Star Wars, Britney) while adding in some truly unexpected and glorious mentions of more recent stuff, including a very memorable Game of Thrones joke.

Mia's still got it - this was such a fun read, and I am so thankful that I have something of Mia's to read and re-read that doesn't make me cringe about my own teenage years. Only one thing to say: SQUEE!

I first read the Princess Diaries when I was about 11 or 12 years old and since then I have reread them so many times I've lost count. They've just always been something that stuck with me from when I was younger than Mia, the same age as Mia, to now older than Mia. So have Mia be older than me again was something special, something I didn't think I'd experience again. I loved this whole book so much. I loved seeing how much Mia has changed, but also how much she has stayed the same. I loved seeing what happened to all the other characters.
SpoilerI was already spoiled for somethings, such as Mr. Gi's death (because I read the first chapter online when Meg Cabot released it a few months ago) and the fact that Mia had a long lost sister (because I knew about Meg's new series From the Notebooks of a Middle School Princess. Come on, Meg, you could have waited until after Royal Wedding was published to announce that one.)
Overall this is exactly what I would have wanted from an eleventh Princess Diaries book. I got to see one of my favourite characters grow up, get married,
Spoilerand get pregnant.
Michael/Mia forever♥
