I re-read this today as an audiobook and found it more enjoyable…probably because Tim Curry was a great narrator. I decided to raise my rating to 4⭐️s.

I first read this book when I was a child, but rereading it as an adult is a much more enjoyable experience. While I'm not big on Christmas spirit myself, there's still so much you can learn from Scrooge.
I wonder what we would see if we had visits from the three spirits; how it would compel us to change the course of our lives. Through the spirits Dickens urges us to remember who we were and to pay attention to the person we're becoming. It's a short book but it gives a lot to think about.

This is a classic for a reason. Even though I knew the story, I found myself getting invested in the characters and the writing style. Tim Curry’s performance helps with that as well. I have recently been coming to the discovery that I actually like Charles Dickens. Also I love how anti-capitalist this book is.
