I’ve tried to read this twice. I usually enjoy Jenny Colgan books. I am disappointed with this one every time. The arguing and contention isn’t my idea of a cozy book.

Actually well written, imaginative situations, not quite clichéd characters. Would read more from this author
This is a lovely story set in the heart of Edinburgh at Christmas time and it has many layers.
You have two sisters, the oldest is hardworking, successful with the trappings of wealth and the younger, although gifted, refused to be compared, flunks her exams, works in retail, no prospects, no boyfriend, no kids! However, both sisters are jealous of each other.
You then have the "custodian" of the bookshop, once wealthy but who has sqandered the family's wealth over the years. He too is carrying a dark secret which has weighed him down all his life.
Together with a couple of other characters, Colgan weaves a beautiful story of hope at Christmas time in the beautiful city of Edinburgh!

Finally finished this book! My goodness what a rollercoaster this was.
The thing is, I really liked the storyline, it is an amazing story about sister finding each other and love a long the way. However, this style of writing the third person way is not my cup of tea I have discovered. Nevertheless it was a Christmas book about a bookshop and love, who cannot like that??
