Was looking for a Christmas read so decided on this one. Some say it’s another book in the ‘Happy Ever After’ serie. It’s just very little that comes back in this book so I would call it a stand alone.
It’s a book that tells the love about cute little bookstores and the wandering streets of Edinburgh. I really enjoyed the book, it’s Christmas but not like icing on any Christmas cake. Just perfect what I was looking for!

Loved it - a perfect Christmas cozy love story with bonus family love.
I've fallen down the rabbit hole of Jenny Colgan's Scottish romances. Help. I can't stop.
Actually, no. I'm fine. Just like all her heroines that are wonderfully messed up in some relatable way, and go through a bunch of crap before they surface and figure their shit out...I'll be fine. Just not in a cosy, quirky Scottish bookshop kind of way.
The main character of this one, Carmen, is seriously unlikeable for a lot of the book. Hopefully I'm not quite that bad. She's whingy and has a massive chip on her shoulder, and by the halfway point of the story, I thought, "If she moans "Oh GOD" at another of her "why me" moments one more time I'm going to reach through the book and smack her." Which, sadly, I couldn't, even though she did.
Thankfully, the bookshop owner is a sweet old man and the whole arc involving the rebranding and energizing of his shop is pretty engaging. And, like all of Colgan's books, there are lots of scenes involving both books and food, which makes me happy. So, I'll probably read the damn sequel, too.
