The whining of the MC in the beginning almost made me stop reading but it turned into a cute story. Too many miscommunication situations also annoyed me a bit but the setting made up for it.

The majority of the characters are deeply unlikable and the only way the book could get you to root for the protagonist was to make a random side character a stereotypical mean girl villain in the last fourth of the story. There was also some weird Quaker propaganda in the book, but the book also didn’t seem to treat the faith with much respect.
