Loved this and there better be a sequel considering that cliffhanger ending!

Loved the Egyptian setting and the commentary on the thievery of the British when it came to historical artefacts, nevermind the treatment of local Egyptians in general given the sociopolitical climate of the times.

The writing was good and the narration even better, making for some laugh out loud moments in a story that is otherwise dark and full of betrayal. Highly recommend for readers who enjoy their historical fiction with a dash of magic.

When I read that this book included Egyptian history and archeological themes, I knew I had to pick it up.

The setting was vibrant and different from the ones I've previously encountered and you could feel the author's love for the themes she covered. I adored the mystery and the different family dynamics, but I really wanted more details on the magic (system) in the book. I also wanted to get to know Whit a bit more: I wanted to know his thoughts and why he did what he did.

All in all, this was an enjoyable read. I will definitely be reading the sequel.

plot was wack, especially towards the end

WHAT THE HELL?? Uggghhhh I was hoping for an uncomplicated ending where she and Whit just get to be together but that fucking epilogue?? WHAT

But I loooooved reading this — the setting was so different than most books I read. Only complaint was how many times they described Whit as “brawny” and Ricardo as “disheveled”

I swear to god if Whit is crossing Inez… I will riot
