plot was wack, especially towards the end
WHAT THE HELL?? Uggghhhh I was hoping for an uncomplicated ending where she and Whit just get to be together but that fucking epilogue?? WHAT
But I loooooved reading this — the setting was so different than most books I read. Only complaint was how many times they described Whit as “brawny” and Ricardo as “disheveled”
I swear to god if Whit is crossing Inez… I will riot

Genuinely NOTHING on the face of this earth could have prepared me for the ending of this book. I was left completely speechless. I forgot how to form words.
This book takes ages to finally get anywhere! I had to 2x the audio to get through it.

Annoying and childish protagonist who is supposed to be 18 but acts wayy younger. Set in the mid-late 1800s but the attitude/dialogues/set up is completely out of historical context (a filthy rich girl who just got her inheritance travels from Argentina to Egypt without a maid/companion and pretends to be widowed to no get bothered instead? Zero organisation on how to get around when arriving in Egypt? I struggle to imagine anyone would do it nowadays let alone a high class girl from the XIV century). The dialogue with the uncle about the leaving and going back home was so repetitive for like 50 pages and not moving un any direction and it is when I gave up because I got bored and annoyed.
Also the magic ring bit was out of place imo since this is marketed as historical romance and not fantasy. It also didn't add anything to the plot so i guess it could be ignored but still
