I'd never seen Lucie Bryon's art prior to reading this and I'm blown away by her work. I love the color palettes, the loose but neat line work, and the way she conveys texture. Her illustrations are captivating but also light and cute. The characters were all interesting and realistically complex. And of course I loved the sweet gay romance of it all.
My only complaint is about the story itself. The plot lacked something. I think I wanted a bit more depth, more time to let things land. Plus, the book takes place at numerous parties, making everything run together a bit. It could feel somewhat repetitive. More development in between these party scenes might have helped.
I would definitely recommend this book just for the illustrations alone. So beautiful.

This is literally perfect. Sweet, romantic, while also being deep and diving into the psychology of why somebody would want to steal. And I’m so glad that forgiveness isn’t central to the plot. Sometimes people don’t deserve their stuff back.
Thieves is wonderfully illustrated — the style is loose, but there’s small details that show careful consideration that add to the fun of the story. I appreciated how there’s a little more than meets the eye in these characters and how they work through things together.

Super cute read. Love Ella's openness and vitality. LOVE the wave / water imagery and the wash of crushes and infatuation but also of romance and also of stress / anxiety, beautifully well done. Love the little pops into other worlds / characters that show Ella's personality. Also love that we don't get the whole backstory for Madeleine and that things are left unanswered, feels natural not to have shared everything with your partner immediately.

Sweet and cute story about falling in love and being able to admit your secrets to others. A grafic novel filled with toned down and mood setting backround colours (and lots of smoking) is a wonderful queer YA read.
