Spicy and Sweet

This book was so good. At first I wasn’t sure on how I felt about Tara but she grew on me once she gave into her feelings for Ethan. I loved her relationship with Vincent. I can’t wait to read Vick and Colts story!

Take every stereotype you can of an angry color woman, mix in the stereotype of a jealous ex-wife and you have Takeover.

I have mixed feelings about this book. I loved the premise but at the same time, it just felt like the author wanted to drag this out as long as they could and toss in as many stereotypes as possible. The ongoing theme is that the hero and heroine "hate" each other, yet within the first oh 10 chapters are constantly screwing and have declared themselves a couple. I'm not sure where the enemies to lovers came in but really the 50-plus chapters could have been shrunk down to oh 30 or less. The author kept dragging out Lindsey, the ex-wife, in petty drama because the MMC wouldn't take her back. I mean I don't even know if there would be a book without Lindsey because of how much she is used as the angst within this book.

If you want a stereotypical representation with a minimal plot, go for it! Otherwise, just pass it up. Oh also opt to not listen to this book because the female narrator in no way represents a female under 30. I sometimes forgot that Tara was under 30. Troy though did an excellent job! Honestly, this book gets a 3 star because of Troy the male narrator.

I won't be continuing this series because I can only imagine how much more unnecessary drama is drug out in future books

Honestly, the beginning of this was pretty good! I enjoyed it for the most part. The pacing wasn’t my favorite and I feel like things happened way too fast. My biggest complaint was that this book was like 150 pages too long. The last third I did not care about at all and barely got through. This had too many plots it was trying to keep me engaged with and I just wasn’t.

I enjoyed this. I did think the FMC was immature in the beginning and whining but i grew to enjoy her. I loved the little kids and the relationship between FMC.

They both act like immature children in the beginning and nothing can save this book from the level of annoying that was to read. FMC is unnecessarily rude and judgmental to the MMC and then he acts the same way back. Due to the power dynamic of their relationship, boss and employee, he does it in a way that is obnoxious, arrogant and just like that of any other man with power over anyone but especially a woman. That’s icky asf if you ask me but they are equally bad characters from what I’ve read.

I feel as though the author does a terrible job of establishing the tension and just makes the FMC hate him immediately with little reason. The amount of hate and judgment just does not make sense for the situation and so it was extremely forced. I feel as though no human with any decency should be able to enter into conversation with someone for the first time with this much hostility and consistently be so mean with the little context they have about the person. I also want to reiterate how sleezy the dude is for the way he thinks about her and trying to use his power as not only her boss but also as just a man that is bigger than her to try to make her shrink and give in to his will, it’s weird and disgusting.

AND WHY THE HELL IS THIS SUCH A LONG BOOK????

Honestly, the main characters annoyed me and the whole ex-wife situation was just too much and never-ending.
