Brilliant work from Adams, so unpredictable and hilariously funny.
I've never had a book go from being something really hard to get into, (seriously those first 100 pages took me a very long time) to really entertaining and satisfying by the ending. And it's all only 300 pages.
The ending of this book was short, satisfying and completely changed my opinion of anything I experienced earlier. Loved it.

Fantastic, even better than the Hitchhiker’s series. Really funny, similar to Good Omens, just a great story.

A Delightfully odd and wildly entertaining tale. As with most Douglas Adams books, it truly defies description and if I even try to, it just would not do it justice. This one is not for everyone, but if you loved Hitchhikers, you will also love this. Honestly, one cannot adequately review anything this genius wrote, so – well – I’m not going to go any farther. Just read.

Overall, this was a really good read, and actually nothing like what I had expected from watching the BBC adaptation. There were elements of the same storyline, but, of course, the book was much better than the show! Although the plot lines were generally much more out there and chaotic than the ones in the tv show, they made more sense to the story, and I enjoyed it in a very different way - it felt like everything was much better connected and explained, which was obviously a real positive.
Dirk’s character felt much older and much more oddly wealthy (which is very difficult to explain, as a large portion of the plot revolves around him having no money at all) than I was expecting - possibly because of his self-assuredness and his incredible loquacity. But having said that, I did enjoy his character a lot - and he felt, not like a hero, but a fitting person to be the one that effectively saves everyone but who isn’t a hero.
I also really enjoyed the exploration of ghosts and hauntings throughout the book - it was a really interesting take on ghosts that I hadn’t heard before and I found it both interesting and exciting.
However, I’m only giving it 4 stars rather than 5, because of the ending. The ending itself was great, but from about halfway through the book, it suddenly and exponentially seemed to gain pace, and you suddenly seemed to crash into the ending like you would a brick wall at speed. Having said that, it was a very good and entertaining ending and I would definitely recommend that you read the book!!

This may be the worst Douglas Adams book I have ever read. It's awful. It's so awful, it comes all the way back around to being lovable.

Read the book because I loved the Netflix TV show, but they are totally different. Both great and bizarre!
Minor: Death, Murder
Fragmented and mind-boggling plot, with titular character showing up halfway through the book. Can't say I've really 'got it' at times, but overall it was quite an enjoyable read.
Things such as alien ship accident causing Life to begin on Earth, ghosts being only able to posses people who share the ghosts desires and Electric Monk, a machiene created to believe for you in the same way a dishwasher is washing your dishes have resonated with me. On the other hand it was difficult to follow the narrative which was focusing on several plotlines all over the place, hence my rating.
