A woman falls pregnant, and when she tells her partner of 12 years, he rejects her and the child, and she returns to her mother's home.
The story is about the MC learning to stand on her own two feet. The idea of it is nice. But in reality, it was quite boring. Didn't make me feel anything.
I listened to its audio format and was disappointed by the narrator's performance. Her tone was dull, and the voices she put on for the other character were dreadful. I might have liked this more if I had read it.

Just the lighthearted book I needed. Was predictable but still endearing. I related to Zoe a lot!
Sometimes the best things in life are unplanned.
This is the second book I’ve read by Natalie K. Martin and I absolutely loved it. I was able to watch Zoe grow into a strong, independent woman/mother. We all deserve a support system like Zoe’s mom, Nina, and Jude! Speaking of Jude…I loved him even more than I grew to hate Sam (Zoe’s baby daddy). Great read and the ending made my heart very happy!

I’m glad I continued on. I ended up liking the book even though I felt it was moving kinda slow.
Okay...far be it from me to thoroughly enjoy a book that had no spice because I LIVE there, okay. But Unplanned was such.a.good.read. As a romance and fantasy girl, I venture out into pure fiction VERY rarely--I was so pleasantly surprised by this book!! Reading about Zoe felt like reading about one of my friends in a few years. As my current friend group gets closer to 30, everyone's life plans are shifting from what we all thought would be going on. Reading about this story felt like the most reassuring hug. I laughed, I got angry (yall her baby daddy stressed me OUT), I kicked my feet and I pumped my fists. What else could you want from a book? If you're loving for a read to make you laugh and give you the same feels you get when watching your best friend do well, this is it.

I don’t know how I found this book, but I did and it gave me all the feels in the best possible way. Let me break it down, 38-year-old Zoe has a jet-setting life of luxury, in fact, one would say that she’s living it up. She travels the world with her boo Sam, they’ve been together for 11 years and they’re seemingly happy. That’s until Zoe gets pregnant and Sam wants nothing to do with the baby because he’s living his life and loving the freedom. Zoe decides to go back home to London where she reconnects with her family and friends, and more importantly, she begins to rebuild the life she really wants with her baby. As her journey to motherhood begins she realizes that there’s so much she wants to do and begins to discover who she is, which I found totally beautiful. This book is slow but sweet in such a simple way.
"Unplanned" by Natalie K. Martin is a heartfelt journey through the eyes of Zoe, who, after eleven years of traveling with her partner Sam, finds herself at a crossroads when she discovers she's pregnant. This revelation propels her to seek a new dream, even if it means doing it without Sam.
Returning to London, Zoe navigates her new reality from her childhood bedroom, initially feeling as though her life is unchanged, aside from her growing baby bump. Encouraged by her best friend, Nina, Zoe embarks on a pre-baby bucket list, exploring who she is outside of her past relationship.
The novel focuses primarily on female friendship, family, and community support, with a subtle romantic subplot that ultimately takes a backseat. Readers join Zoe as she embraces new experiences, redefining her identity before motherhood.
While the romance doesn’t quite deliver in the end, causing some frustration after being so well hinted at and, in some ways, developed in the first 90% of the novel.
The story's strength lies in Zoe’s character development and her journey towards self-discovery. "Unplanned" is a sweet, engaging read, celebrating the complexities of life’s transitions and the bonds that help us through them.

It took me what seems like months to finish this book on audible. I listen to it while I am at work, I don’t know if it was the poor accents the reader was using or the drawn out storyline but this book was hard to get through. I think it would have been more interesting if it wouldn’t have taken so long for her and Jude to figure life out. I also feel like after all that, we were left hanging at the end between them two. I don’t know that I would recommend it as an audiobook but maybe it would have been better as a physical book.
