You are like nobody since I love you.
Let me spread you out among the yellow garlands.
Who writes your name in letters of smoke among the stars of the south?
Oh let me remember you as you were before you existed.

Oh neruda, my nostalgic friend...

I can’t even describe the way this collection has replicated some parts of my soul I forgot were there

everything I will say about this has already been said.
This is the most profound, deep, meaningful and true poetry I've ever read about being in love, falling out of love, explaining why and how we choose to love the people we choose to love. It's all so visual, so tactile, so emotional.

This is the first full book of poetry I've ever read. I really appreciated Cristina Garcia's introduction and the way it set the stage for reading Neruda's poetry which is deeply personal.

I read this alongside Gaston Bachelard's The Poetics of Space and have really enjoyed having Neruda's poems in mind as I've read certain passages and vice-versa. I plan on returning to this collection again and hope to discover more poetry as excellent as this.
