First, the audiobook is fantastic and a really great way to read the book. I’m not a parent, so while it was dark, it wasn’t emotionally difficult to get through. However, if you are a parent, definitely look at trigger warnings. It’s definitely a different perspective on motherhood than what is normally depicted in the media and I enjoyed that.

We expect a mother to automatically unconditionally love their child and for the child to love and need their mother. But what happens if that’s not true? The mother is “broken” and the children is innocent in all this. The mother is paranoid to think their child doesn’t love them. The husband blames the mother even though the same pressures don’t apply to him. Other mothers will never admit to struggling the same way. This book explores all of that and more.

I enjoyed this book, the beginning was a little confusing, but once I caught on to the structure and characters it was easy to follow. I accidentally ruined the ending for myself and I think I would have really enjoyed the ending if it was a surprise. overall I enjoyed it.

I waited two entire months on Libby…for this? Maybe it was just the Tik Tok hype but I didn’t find this as crazy and captivating as everyone said it was.

This book was hard to put down and was overall a great read. I think reading this as a woman gave me a different feeling than what a man might feel. Not saying a man wouldn't enjoy it but this book covers alot of feelings and emotions a woman might go through than might be hard to relate to.

I expected something different when reading this book, but I really enjoyed the direction it took. It makes you think a lot about the experience of being a woman and expectations on becoming a mother. It's both sad and terrifying.
