lighthearted medium-paced

I’m only really starting my dip into romance novels, and supernatural stories for that matter, so I had to read this with a bit of a grain of salt from the jump. I thought Not the Witch You Wed was generally a fun read and I liked the sort of twist in the theme at the end - of believing in yourself and the power that you possess all on your own. It was present throughout but I don’t think you really realize how prominent a theme it is until the latter 100 pages or so.

There were DEFINITELY some cringey bits - it got to the point where Lincoln was saying “Princess” so much I wanted to never hear that word uttered in any context ever again. I also approached the “can’t stand this” point with the PG, witchy alterations on swear words - it was just overdone. We get it, they’re witches.

Overall I don’t think I’ll continue the series but I’m glad I crossed this one off my list.

Quick read. a little spicy. Predictable.

Somehow every single one of these supernatural creatures was a cringey millennial and the cultural references are going to age real fast. I had fun, though!
