Dnf at 56%… would have stopped after the first chapter if I weren’t trying to read it for book club. The writing is just so cringe. Some other reviews are spot on in saying it feels like a man writing women, even though the author is a woman

Welp, this was a little disappointing. The premise was fire, I’m obsessed with Edie, I NEED a Bax x Olive, and Harper x Adrian book STAT, and we stan Queen Misha in this house, but this one was just very okay.

There were some moments I adored, but this was super predictable (and not in a HEA/romcom type of way that you want), somewhat forgettable plot.

The writing is what really killed it - the phrasing, cadence, the godforsaken nicknames, it was beyond cringey. Also seemingly major plot holes - the watermelons tongue thing….homie just WRITE IT DOWN.

This had a lot of potential but I don’t know, friends. I hear the second book is better, but I don’t know if I’ll continue the series. TBD.

I really loved this one I'm excited for book two.

This was a cute romance novel with a supernatural twist. Violet has grown up as a witch without magic until she runs into her old crush and sparks (literally fly). Lincoln is the North American Pack Alpha and is trying to change the old ways of the elders while also dealing with his growing feelings for Violet. The two enter into a fake dating arrangement to get their respective groups off their back about finding a mate ASAP, and the story follows a predictable path from there.

Overall this book was fine and I enjoyed reading it, but nothing about it stood out to me that would get higher than a 3 star rating.

Also, and this may have just been me, every time Lincoln called her "princess" I visibly cringed

Ok so this started out a little slow and confusing for me and I almost did't finish it! But so glad that I did and I am even wanting a second book!

A wonderful paranormal romance that will have you cheering and laughing. Once I got past the beginning of the story with so much thrown at the reader at once it was a little hard wrapping my head around all the info...but I persevered and loved the book.
The characters were wonderful and there was quite a bit of humour to be had. I laughed quite a bit and was cheering for the underdog (pun intended)...mainly Lincoln. I really fell in love with the characters and once I got into the book I couldn't put it down.

The author's writing kept my interest after the first couple of chapters. I know the beginning you have to give the reader all the information but it was too much to fast...but it is well worth the read now I'm wanting a second book! I really hope this turns into a series because I loved it.
Highly recommend

Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for allowing me to read a digital ARC of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

oooey-gooey cuteness with a dash of cringe and second hand embarrassment

If you’re looking for the PERFECT spooky season read, then your search stop right HERE! This book quickly (and I mean by like page 100) became one of my new top recs ever and that is saying A LOT, because I’m serious about my September/October TBR. The magic system? Loved it. Fake dating? Always my fave. The subplots? Superb. Every single thing about this book had me smiling, laughing, gasping, rooting for all the little things and waiting on the edge of my seat at the end. Do yourself a favor and READ THIS BOOK! Violet and Linc are the perfect enemies (?) to lovers, I am so so interested to find out more about her besties who happen to be an Angel and a virgin sex demon, her sisters are incredible and I’m loving what we’ve gotten to see of their personalities so far. And Grandma Edie? Bad. Ass. I wish we could see more into ALL the side characters but this introduction and getting all the focus on Linc and Vi was amazing. I’m in love!
