Hell's spells, what a hexing awesome book!! Not the Witch You Wed by April Asher is a wickedly funny, charming and enjoyable read.

I love so many things about this book but at the top of my list is the witty banter between Violet and Lincoln. Absolutely brilliant. I had so many laugh out loud moments.

In addition to Vi and Linc, I really loved the cast of characters and I cannot wait to see what happens in the next book.

Thanks to SMP and NetGalley for the advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

it was all very surface but still pretty enjoyable.

i really hope the other two sisters either don’t swear, or use actual normal language bc “hex me” and “hells bells” was too much and i do actually plan to read their books too. or at least the second one if it’s not exceptionally cringey.

… also, SPARKY??? violet couldn’t have come up with anything better?

Couldn’t get past two of the characters being introduced by their bra size 🙃

Not the Witch you Wed by April Asher is a paranormal romance with some rom com and magical realism mixed in. It was such a super freaking cute story. Violet is a witch without powers, Linc is a shifter, and they used to date. They are both kind of a big deal in their communities but are now forced to find mates. In order to buy themselves some more time they decide to fake date. Little do they know their feelings would surface very quickly!

I enjoyed this story so much! It was such a quick and easy read. The characters were loveable and relatable. There was a great plot with lots of drama. It's a second chance romance with enemies to lovers. Was there spice? Yes, of course!
emotional hopeful lighthearted medium-paced
Loveable characters: Yes

The tropes are troping and I dig it!

*fake dating
*second chance
*fated mates
*miscommunication
*partnership of convenience

This book was cute, not overly complex and it did exactly what it was supposed to do.

Was it cheesy at times, of course, but it wasn’t over the top.

Light, fun and a definite recommend from me!

Violet is a dud. That means she has no magic. No magic in a supposedly magic triad of triplet. As the firstborn she should have had something. But for 32 years, nothing -nada -zilch. Until suddenly she's got sparks coming out of her hands she doesn't know how to control. The only connection is the recent appearance of a hot shifter she was sure she'd put out of her life for good.

This was a super cute read. I love supernatural elements and the fact that it was just integrated into the real world was great. The 2nd chance love was sweet and was something I didn't even know I needed at the time. It's the first in the series and I'm hoping the second is also readily available at my library. *fingers crossed*

Edit: the second book is not out as this one just came out in February!

3.5 stars

I’m here for the vibes. Loved the whole supernatural community and that it’s integrated with the normal people. Loved all of the characters. I did feel like a lot of scenes were cut short or glossed over, especially at the end.

I finished this one earlier this year but never posted the review. Such a fun, endearing read with a little zaniness. I’m loving the series.

This is a cute romance set in a very intriguing supernatural society. It's fascinating to see the different groups and how they function together. There's quite a bit of interesting mythology and lore behind some of the rules. It's a great blend of romantic comedy, complete with fake dating trope, and this supernatural world. Very fun read!
