Foge do tipo que livro que costumo ler, porque tem passagens demasiado descritivas e imaginativas sobre as coisas boas da vida como a paz, o amor, o sol, tudo misturado e enrolado e são demais para mim. Sentia-me numa bola de neve, ou de palavras, ao fim de três linhas ainda na mesma frase. No entanto, li-o depressa (mas a acompanhar o percurso de Paulo) e com curiosidade para saber como seria quando o 'Magic Bus' chegasse ao seu destino.

I think every writer has a "spacebar" period in his/her life. But because is a writer he/she must not give up writing. Obviously, this book is the fruit of such a "spacebar" period in Paulo Coelho's creative life and I think the story as it is written here was more appropriate in a weekly column, in a newspaper. The story is interesting for someone who loves the '60s and the '70s but the characters and the plot are not well defined, they lack so many things and you get the feeling that this book had so much more to offer, that it's incomplete. That it was writen and published in a big hurry. It's a pitty. I think that writers should write and pubish constantly articles, columns, blogs, short stories with other writers... but not necessariy books. Peace!
Paulo Coelho's autobiography gives the perfect 60's vibe to my themed 60's month of reading.
Paulo tells a tale of travel, love and growing from experiencing other people's lifestyles. The Hippie movement as told in “Hippie” is not what my parents told me about Hippie's or what my husband was raised to believe about those people outside of his own little world living in Utah. It is what I knew it to be: People who wanted an existential answer to why war happens and hoping that love, freedom, and exploration can ease the stress of living in a world where we can't control everything but the life we give to ourselves.
I really enjoyed reading Hippie. Paulo's life is intriguing to me. I appreciated being able to read his story as I enjoyed The Alchemist so much when it came out.

Heerlijk boek over reizen, liefde en spiritualiteit.
Immer wenn ein neuer Coehlo auf den Markt kommt, eile ich dem Buch entgegen und kann es kaum erwarten es zu lesen. Coelho hat eine besondere Gabe Geschichten zu erzählen, die ich bei keinem anderen Autor bislang entdeckt habe.
Diesmal erhielt ich ein Rezensionsexemplar von Vorablesen, wofür ich mich bedanken möchte.
Meine Vorfreude auf das Buch wurde nach nur wenigen Seiten zur puren Enttäuschung. Ich konnte keinen roten Faden erkennen, die Erzählform von der wechselten dritten Person gefiel mir nicht und das Buch wirkte unruhig auf mich.
Coehlo legt sich nicht fest nur Romane zu verfassen, sondern teilt auch gerne sein Wissen, welches er auf all seinen Reisen gesammelt hat, mit seinen Lesern und verfasst auch mal eine Art Handbuch/Ratgeber.
Hier, fehlte mir selbst das. Die besondere Atmosphäre die seine Bücher ausmacht fehlt komplett.
Ich kann nur hoffen, dass sein nächsters Buch wieder an seine vorherigen wundervollgen Geschichten anknüpfen wird.
