Tartuffe

Molière

I read this for my Masterpieces of World Literature course; very engaging! How remarkable that Moliere can consistently keep the same couplet rhyme scheme and meter! (And I was reading an English translation as well!) Very similar to Shakespeare, in it that the women dominate the course of the events; without Dorine, we would not have a story. It's a testament to female significance in French society in this neo-classicism period, as women in this region were able to partake in intellectual discussion and thought.

It has been quite a long time since I have both been on Goodreads and written any type of a review.

I had to read this book for my Reason and Revolution history course for university. In short, I was pleasantly surprised! I went in with basically no expectations and came out with a favorable view. It is a short play that reads quite easy and carries quite a bit of humor to it. I am definitely interested in reading more from Molière.
