“He was one of those staunch patriotic Britons who, having made a portion of a foreign country their own, strongly resent the original inhabitants of it.”
― Agatha Christie, The Mystery of the Blue Train

I can't tell if Agatha Christie had terrible taste in men or if she just thought other women did. But first, what this book does well:

1) All of the characters are introduced before the crime takes place. 2) It is possible to solve this one based on the information you have before the reveal. 3) The story is interesting even outside of the mystery. 4) There are a number of likeable characters.

What is frustrating: The romance.
As soon as I realized Knighton was the killer, I knew Katherine would end up with Derek, who will blow all her money gambling. The only bright side is that Lenox dodged that marital bullet.
I hope she and Zia, at least, find companions who will make them happy.

Audiobook narrator Hugh Fraser does well with the Poirot mysteries, but some of his character voices are much too soft. I found myself turning the volume up and down and up and down, and skipping back before adjusting the volume, and I still missed a couple of lines that I decided probably weren't critical to the story. Docking him a star for volume issues. 4 stars.

(Audiobook). Almost too many characters. Enjoyed the plot twist. David suchet is kind of a god.

A thoroughly enjoyable and engaging read :)
mysterious relaxing medium-paced

On the higher end of how I’d rank the first 5 Christie novels. The beginning was pretty slow and introduced a ton of characters. I started to enjoy the story more after the first 11-12 chapters and was somewhat fooled by the murderer twist.
