it's my first christie book i've ever read and plus, i picked it just like that — not looking much into it or even reading the synopsis. i had no expectations and also knew that i cannot judge her lifetime work by the first one i pick and choose to read. with knowing all of this; i was not disappointed nor really satisfied. i enjoyed it. sometimes i found it quite boring. then i enjoyed it again. so honestly, i have really no issue with this book, and i definitely plan on reading more christie, but it's not enough for a 3 🌟.

Amazing as always. All of her books are well written. Some of them are amazing and epic. Some of them are fine. And then there are those, like this one, that is just excellent.

Really liked the atmosphere and the characters.

Not my favourite Agatha Christie (the antisemitism is particularly strong in the opening chapter and there is a healthy dose of cultural stereotyping throughout), but the mystery plot itself is satisfactory.
