This was SO FUN.
The romance had me giggling like a 15 year old. I almost wanted this to have a continuation because I didn’t want to say goodbye to these characters

5+ stars! I'm so excited about this book. It's like reading A Good Girls Guide to Murder x The Reappearance of Rachel Price + some romance and spicy scènes. The book even has an dicktonairy haha! The mystery in the book about Lizzie Rhodos is very interesting. Thomas and Connors mom, they go back to the small town where she was last seen 12 years ago and then they are going to investigate it together with friends. Of course there are happening shady things while they are there.. you really have to read it!
4,5/5 ⭐️
To be honest my expectations weren’t high when I bought this book. I thought that with purchasing it i can support a debut author and her work and i can also find a 3-star read. But I was utterly wrong. After having this book in my hand for 25-26 hours I was done reading it (and in the meantime I was working a 7 hour shift and slept for 9 to 10 hours).
Of course I had slight problems, but overall, the novel was fast paced and made me want to read more and more.
I felt that the romantic parts were dominating instead of the mystery part. I’m not a fan of romance books so I longed for more secrets, problems, thrills. The characters were great, yet I wanted to know their stories, characteristics in a deeper way.
Besides these smaller problems I have one bigger, but not just with this book. Nowadays I feel like all books „should” contain LMBTQ characters. Frankly I don’t feel it’s necessary, because they don’t put much (or maybe I can say they don’t put anything) to the story.

For a book that is primarily marketed as a mystery novel I felt too much time was spent on sex.
That being said I did not dislike the book. The mystery was interesting and I did not predict the ending before it came.

First, thank you Hanga for the ARC of Our Darkest Summer.
Set in a charming small lakeside town, this book had me hooked with its perfect blend of romance and suspense. The plot was gripping, keeping me guessing with every twist and turn as a group of friends banded together to solve a cold case.
The chemistry between Thomas and Kinsley was electric and added so much to the story. Plus, the romance and spice were spot on! I also loved Kinsley's friendship with Thomas's brother, which made the book even more enjoyable.
Also Braxton, the loving and goofy side character, really stood out. I was initially skeptical about him, but he quickly won me over. Is there going to be a book about Braxton? If so, I'm very excited to read more about him. His tech-savvy personality adds a great dimension to his character. If not, please please please consider it!
Overall, Our Darkest Summer is a must-read, combining suspense, romance, and engaging characters. Highly recommended!

super fun, easy read. Was just lacking depth and character development
This book!!! A very strong debut
Such an exciting read with the perfect mix of mystery and romance. All of the characters were so likeable, the found family was so cute and thomas was incredible. So so sad that this is a standalone.
My only issue really was that the reveal particularly around the betrayal could have had more explanation and maybe shock factor around it, I feel like it was all been revealed to the readers before the 'big reveal'. I think the book could have gotten awag with being a little longer which may have helped with this and a few other times were it felt a little rushed.
And everybody say it with me now THEY ARE NOT HALF SIBLINGS (not sure where people have got that from) and KNEW EACH OTHER BEFORE THEIR PARENTS GOT TOGATHER! It's pretty clearly explained at the start of the book.
