seeing her let her walls down and finally let herself love - UGH

*update with audio*

Mother Pucker is the third book in the Momcoms series, but it can be read as a standalone.

Shayla is a widow, and after losing her husband to cancer, she started taking great care about what she put into her body. She even tries to feed her three best friends and their seven children the healthy food she makes.

Rowan Parker is a professional hockey player. After he gets injured, he needs PT and winds up with Shayla as his physical therapist.

These two were great together. Rowan was very persistent when it came to Shayla (not that she was very resistant), but he wanted her and only her. Sure, it was just for fun…until feelings got involved, and they both fell for each other. It was forbidden because he was technically her patient, but the sparks between them just could not be ignored.

Rowan was so sweet with Kai, Shayla’s son, and he helped Shayla to loosen up a bit. She was constantly worrying about her son’s safety, but she also wanted him to be happy and had to let go of her control. She was able to do so because she trusted Rowan.

This was my first Swati M.H. novel, and I really enjoyed it. It was another great addition to the series, and I cannot wait for the last book.

*Audio:
Narrators: Samantha Brentmoor and Teddy Hamilton
Style: Duet

These two did a fantastic job bringing the story and characters to life. Samantha brought out all of Shay’s emotions, from her caring and overprotective side to her strong and independent side. Teddy was perfect as the young(er) hockey player with a possessive side when it came to Shay.

4.5✨

Shayla, a widow, a mom, and a physical therapist doing everything she can to protect her son. She eats healthy, she doesn’t let her son do things that will hurt him. And hockey isn’t even in the question.

Rowan, a NHL player who gets injured and needs Shayla’s help. A man that is on a mission to make her want him and a who adores her son. Except he’s lived reckless, making the overprotective mom’s walls come caving in.

I had so many giggles throughout this book. It was such a fun read and I will most definitely read it again!!

Loved this book!

I really enjoyed this story! I loved seeing the friendships continue to strengthen and how their found family worked. I also loved seeing more of the kids personalities.

"I don't know about you, Doc, but I've never wanted anything that was easy, and I'm not going to start now. Easy's not worth having."

So much character growth!
Sisterhood
Pranks and banter and teasing

"And yeah, the technicalities that matter to me tend to stay on the ice. Otherwise, I firmly believe that rules are made to be broken."

Tropes:
Single mom x hockey player, found family, doctor x patient, opposites attract, reverse age gap.

"Then start small. Don't tackle the big mountains; start with the little hills first. Find smaller victories where you can. And if your biggest mountain is kicking this habit, then tackle that last."

ARC review:
I really enjoyed this third installment in the Momcom series. This one features a hockey player in need of physical therapy and the single mom providing it. There was shenanigans, pranks, banter, the amazing found family, the funny kids, the empowerment of the moms, and of course more of Beckett meddling.

"I'm going to have to disagree with you, Doc. It's exactly what it looks like. And what it looks like is my goddamn fantasy just came to life, and it's a hundred times better than I could have ever imagined it."

It was really funny, but also inspirational, and I just adore Shay and Rowan together!
The chemistry between them was so incredibly hot, but the friendship they developed was also so precious. He helped her open up and have fun again. It really was opposites attract! The dealing with the grief and guilt Shay has in regards to her ex-husband added some emotional depth to the story, and helped bring them closer. I also really felt for Rowan with his struggles with his dad and his past relationship, and I loved how supportive Shay was - they really did help each other and found their missing pieces in each other.

"Fine, I have thought about him! Is that what you're waiting for me to admit? That I think about him all the goddamn time, and I'm attracted to him, and I want to… I want to jump his cocky-as-fuck hockey star bones and become his fulltime puck bunny? Because I do."

Also, Kai is just the sweetest kid!
And Rowan was amazing; with Shay and her insecurities, his personality, his outgoing pranking nature, as a teammate, his place in this new found family and of course with Kai - the two of them skating together - UGH, my heart!!!
